No one hurt Made Aug 16, 2025, sent to the company Aug 20, 2025, published by CPSC Sep 4, 2025
The product, in the report: Plug-in copper-wire fairy lights, 66 ft / 200 LEDs, warm white (~3000 K). In-line push-button controller with timer. Listing claims corded electric, IP44 waterproof, and UL 588-approved adaptor. Brand shown as BHCLIGHT; seller shown as Seatoplighting; ASIN B0819PCKSL; model on listing MLS-D4.5V1.35WUC-O; UPC 791309928101. Used indoors as bedroom dcor.
On the night of August 15th, 2025, my 6-year-old son pressed the in-line button to turn off a set of plug-in fairy lights installed next to their bed. At that moment, two sections of the light wire touched, and sparks shot from the wall outlet. The circuit breaker tripped. No one was injured, but the plug/outlet is visibly scorched. These lights were used as bedroom decor indoors, exactly as sold (no modifications). I’ve attached photos of the damaged plug/outlet and a screenshot of another buyer’s review describing an electrical shock from this product. I reported the issue to Amazon by chat and phone and asked that the listing be taken down for safety.
