The product, in the report: Glenwood 26 inch counter height bar stools, manufactured by Pastel Furniture and purchased online from the Cymax Store. The stool have a back and swivel seat, black wood finish and padded black leather seats and back.
In the summer of 2011 we purchased four Pastel Furniture 26 inch counter stools through CymaxStores.com. On Thanksgiving of 2012 the first stool collapsed under my 160 pound son-in-law and broke into many pieces. Regretfully, I did not photograph this first incident . Approximately two weeks ago, Jan.19, 2014, a second counter stool collapsed under my 63 year old husband. These stools come unglued around the bottom rung. They also split apart under the seat. They are made of cheap tropical wood and poorly constructed. Thankfully none of my family was injured. There are only two adults adults in their sixties living in this home and my husband’s work involves traveling, so he is away much of the time. These stools have received very light use. I have photos of the second stool broken into many pieces around my husband which I will forward to the commission. This is an unsafe product and should be taken off the market. I have been turned down on a request for reimbursement as both incidents occurred after the one year warranty had expired. Warranty or not, I expect furniture to last more than 2 or 3 years.
