    Hampton Bay patio chair broke in half while I was sitting in it. I fell backwards and jarred my right shoulder and hit my head on the deck that the chair was sitting on.

    I was injured while using an outdoor chair made by Hampton Bay. Product is the Hampton Bay 5 piece outdoor chair and table set. The chair that failed was the Grand Bank Swivel Chair. While i was sitting in the swivel chair it broke at all three weld supports on the base, i flipped backwards, banged my head on the deck and badly hurt my back.

    We were sitting on the deck chatting and my husband was sitting in the Hampton Bay swivel chair that we have as a part of a patio set. He fell back without warning when the base of the chair snapped and the upper part of the chair toppled backwards with him in it. He narrowly missed the brick wall of the house with his head by about 3 inches and smashed the flower box with his head causing it to break. He received a large laceration on the back of his neck as a result. We dealt with the laceration at home and he experienced a severe headache and stiffness for the rest of the night and all the next day. We have photos of the chair if needed

    We have had 5 of the 6 Hampton Bay swivel chairs break over the past three months. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt but 3 people sustained minor scratches and bruises. I would say 5 out of six in a short period of time would constitute a manufacturer defect!

    We purchased the Hampton Bay Eastham 7Piece Patio Dining Set, Model # 723.002.000, Internet/Catalog SKU 204411327, on 08/29/2015, which includes a 2-year warranty, for $581.94. Approximately 4 months after receiving the set, we lost our first stationary chair due to the welds breaking. By 05/15/2015, we had lost all four (4) of the stationary chairs, and one (1) of the swivel chairs (due to welds breaking), and by 07/01/16, we lost our last and final chair (swivel); we now have no chairs left to the set. I filed a claim with Home Depot on 06/01/2016, and to date, I still have not received the replacement chairs (after 50 emails, sending photos, and approximately 10 phone calls). These chairs broke while we were sitting in them, or trying to get up, and I actually fell to the ground when one of the swivel chairs broke.
