The product, in the report: Due North brand· oversized director’s chair The chair folds flat for storage, has a mesh seat, padded arms, and ‘has rugged’ steel frame. It also has a fold away table and snack cooler ... meant to bet transported and used for outdoor events such as sporting events, concerts and other venues.

RE: Due North brand- Collapsible Oversized director’s chair. I Purchased one of the above director’s chairs from BJ’s Wholesale Club about a week ago. Since there were no directions on how to open the chair, we proceeded to try to open it. At first, my husband and I were trying to open it together to no avail. I persisted in trying to open the chair and while the mechanism was opening, my right index finger got jammed in the metal cross bars in the front of the chair.

It was difficult to reopen the chair to get my finger out, and needless to say, excruciatingly painful. I am writing to inform your organization of the incident and to complain that there were no instructions for operating the chair, nor safety warnings about the possibility of injury while doing so. The metal structure was excessively ‘tight’ and obviously difficult to open. Since here was also no lever or bar to aid in opening the chair, I used my hand to try to force it to the open position. It would be a great idea for the future to include instructions and a warning about using one’s hand to open it. As a result of my injury I was seen at an urgent care center the following morning for x-rays. While the finger was not broken, I have a serious crush injury. I am unable to use the finger, and can expect several months disability of the finger. It has been a painful and disabling week and I am writing to inform about the possibility of more injuries occurring with other consumers.
