The product, in the report: 2013 - Big Daddy Ultimate Adirondack Chair 2018 - Coral Coast Big Daddy Reclining Tall Wood Adirondack Chair
In 2013, I purchased 5 new “Big Daddy Ultimate Adirondack” chairs from Hayneedle.com. I have stained these chairs & kept them covered when not in use. Over the course of the past weeks, we have noticed that each of the 5 chairs has now broken in the same exact spot. The first chair cracked on impact when someone sat down in it, causing the person to fall out of the chair. We didn’t think much of it until it happened again. After the second break, we inspected the remaining 3 chairs, only to find that the same exact wooden support bar, in each of the 5 chairs, was mushy and disintegrating. This support bar is part of the piece called the “pre-assembled seat back”. This piece came pre assembled from Hayneedle and was attached to the other pieces of the chair by us. The rest of each of these chairs is solid and intact. This means that this pre assembled seat back support bar is clearly faulty and made of sub par wood. I have 3 children that use these chairs and we are very lucky that they were not injured when these chairs broke. I would like to make sure that other consumers are aware of this before they decide to purchase them. I contacted Hayneedle directly to tell them about this and they were uninterested because they said that they don’t sell this chair anymore. This is false information; I clicked the link in my receipt from 2013 and it brought me to the same exact chair, which is currently for sale on their website. The only difference is that the name of the chair has changed. The new name of the same chair is “Coral Coast Big Daddy Reclining Tall Wood Adirondack Chair.” The Hayneedle website also currently has a link to the assembly manual for this chair and the title of this manual is still for the same chair they sold in 2013.
