The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Laptop Cushioned Support with Light for Laptop Computer

To Whom It May Concern, I am extremely upset by the dangerous and deadly Sofia+Sam Deluxe Memory Foam Lap Desk With Light [ASIN: B006L3M882]. My grandchildren have used it every night since Christmas (2 weeks). One night it caught on fire. The battery pack became so hot that it melted and burnt the inside foam of the inner-cushion. My son immediately grabbed it and ran outside where it completely caught on fire. Outside, he immediately reached inside to pull out the battery pack, which caused second degree burns to his fingers and hand. The manufacturer should order a massive recall before they kill a child as a result of this faulty product. It’s obvious that the battery pack is very cheaply made and it does not have a safety metal flap to prevent the battery from touching the plastic - a deadly cost saving tactic by an irresponsible manufacturer. Note also the attached picture of the label attached to the product. It states that “THIS ARTICLE DOES NOT MEET CALIFORNIA BUREAU OF HOME FURNISHING’S FLAMMABILITY REQUIREMENTS - TECHNICAL BULLETIN 117”. The manufacturer should have to pay a significant fine for their lack of safety standards. Please tell everyone about this dangerous product. Here are a few pictures as evidence:
