The product, in the report: Dutailier Round Back Cushion Design Modern Glider Multiposition, Recline and Ottoman Combo

On 2 separate occasions, my mother and husband had the Dutailier Multiposition Glider tip forward on them (base completely leaving the floor) while getting out of the chair with our newborn infant. This chair is unstable and a tipping hazard which should not be marketed to parents of babies. These are very popular chairs that are sold in baby supplies stores all across the country, but they could easily result in injuries for users. Thankfully in our situation, my mother and husband held onto our infant even as they fell onto the ground, so she was not injured, but the situation could’ve ended very different quite easily w our baby slipping out of their arms.

Yes, upon closer inspection, I am aware that there is a small warning tag attached to the chair that says it should not be used in recline position w/ babies, and that one should not sit on the edge of the chair. However, I do not think this is sufficient. I am shocked that Dutailier continues to profit from the sales of this chair (costing $500+) without bothering to devote resources to improve such a fundamental design flaw, merely satisfying themselves by attaching the warning tag to protect themselves from litigation should injuries occur. It is ridiculous to me that I can buy a reclining glider in a baby store, like many other parents do for nursing and rocking their newborns, only to find that one should not use it in reclining position w/ their babies b/c it is so dangerous. Many baby products have been recalled for far less significant hazards.
