Emergency room Made Jun 29, 2016, sent to the company Jul 8, 2016, published by CPSC Jul 22, 2016
The product, in the report: Inflatable pool chair made of plastic and mesh: SwimWays Spring Float Papasan
I purchased a SwimWays spring float Papasan pool float chair at Target San Rafael on June 26, 2016, brought it home and in front of [REDACTED], my friend, attempted to inflate it for the first time. The one way plastic valve which is the size of a pencil eraser detached and I swallowed the piece. I attempted to cough it up but if went down my esophagus, causing irritation and discomfort. I went to the emergency room at [REDACTED] and was seen by Dr. [REDACTED] who did a chest x-ray to make sure the plastic piece was not in my lungs. I was told to take a stool softener and omeprazole for acid reflux to help the irritation in my esophagus and wait for it to pass through my bowels and be excreted. I never found the plastic piece in my bowel movements. If the plastic one way valve is still in my GI tract, I am at risk for abscess or bowel obstruction. I have been very apprehensive for the past three days. This is very upsetting. I have never swallowed a foreign body before.
