Emergency room Made Aug 30, 2024, sent to the company Oct 1, 2024, published by CPSC Oct 16, 2024
The product, in the report: Queen size Inflatable air bed
The consumer purchased this airbed approximately 2 weeks ago, but it started losing air. The consumer began to experience a burning sensation in his chest.
8/24/2024: The consumer purchased a replacement airbed, that was made by this same exact manufacture. Within 36 hours of having the mattress in his home, he be experiencing a burning sensation in his chest. He also felt extremely ill, as if he had been poisoned.
He visited the nearest emergency room, and it was determined that his chest was inflamed. He’s currently limited to staying in his living room.
The consumer woke up around 3:00am one day and realized that his health issues resulted from the airbed.
To lessen the effects of this situation:
1. He closed off the room that the mattress was in. 2. The consumer placed his laundry on his balcony for 4 days, along with his airbed box spring. The odor permeated his box spring. As he carried his clothing to the washing machine, he began to experience severe adverse health symptoms, and the chemical odor was overwhelming. 3. The odor permeated his portable air conditioner, so he placed it on his balcony, temporarily.
The consumer’s Internet search mentioned that the product has carcinogens and PVC and is banned in Europe. He also read information indicating that the airbed may off-gas for longer than a month. He believes that this product should absolutely be removed from the market.
(09/30/2024) As of today I still can not sleep in my bedroom, the fumes are in my clothing, which is costng me a fortune to do. Please try and do something thr it is dangerous especially for those who don’t have the correct info as I didn’t, serious health hazard. Sincerely [REDACTED]
