I have been sleeping on a Zinus Spa Sensations Green Tea memory foam twin mattress for about 6 months off and on. I never removed the mattress cover. After coming across the class action lawsuit against Zinus due to exposure to fiberglass, I checked my bed, pillows and blankets for fiberglass. I discovered fibers sticking out of the mattress, in my pillows, and in all the blankets I was using. This is after only 6 months of use, and maybe earlier. I immediately disposed of the mattress and pillows, and I’m currently cleaning my room and blankets in hopes of getting rid of the fibers. This product needs to be banned. I feel I’ve gotten off relatively lightly with minimal itchiness, but I’m very worried about having been breathing fiberglass for the last 6 months while I sleep.

A mattress we bought in 2020 made of foam had a fiberglass cover unbeknownst to us. When a contractor was here doing work we removed all the bedding and placed the twin foam mattress in question on top of the king mattress in my room so the contractor could work where the mattress in question was usually laying (in our room at foot of bed for our toddler). My daughter and I put a projector on the wall to watch a movie and she jumped all over the mattress while I laid on top of it eating popcorn. We had no idea we were laying directly on a 100% fiberglass cover, we had no idea we were putting thousands if not millions of shards of glass into the air and all over our bodies. I woke up after the movie to go to the bathroom and looked down to see my pants and shirt were like a disco ball. My husband was still awake and ai called him and he said you are covered in fiberglass, how? Why? We went back to the room to find our one year old also covered head to toe and our entire bedroom and closet contaminated. I had to wake her up and shower her at 1130 PM and have been sleeping elsewhere for 10 days. I am exhausted! Zinus is the brand. When I ci tacted them they said take off all extra covers and take a photo of the mattress. So I did. Then they said the warranty was void because I took off the fiberglass cover for the photos! We had to build a new bedroom emergency style onto our house so we have a safe place to sleep. I cannot wear any of my clothes. It’s a huge devastation. We are all coughing.

I purchased a Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress off of Amazon.com a little over a year ago. Ive never removed the cover on this mattress but there is glass fibers all over my home. After going back to Amazon to contact the seller Im currently waiting for them to reply back to me. Ive been reading more reviews on this same mattress and apparently there are a lot of folks having this same issue. Im now stuck with this all over my home. My clothes and things are covered in it and I have a 6 year old that is breathing this in just like I am. This cant be safe.

Unzipped the mattress cover on a Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress in order to wash the cover, and placed another cover on the mattress and remade the bed. I did not realize until getting in the bed that the mattress is wrapped in a fiberglass blanket for fire resistance that spread fibers of fiberglass throughout my entire home. My family has been breathing the fibers in, getting them embedded in skin, and have had to throw out the mattress, all bedding and many items of clothing with embedded fiberglass that cannot be removed by washing/drying. I have vacuumed my home many times and still have fiberglass all over every surface. Later, I found a small tag on the mattress cover that says ‘Do not remove ’. I do not feel this is sufficient warning as the cover has a zipper and seems like it is removable for washing.

In January 2020, I purchased for my daybed a Zinus Green Tea Mattress, Narrow Twin, through [redacted]. I received the 6” foam mattress a few days later and followed directions to let it expand over a 96 hour period. During that time I purchased a quilted waterproof mattress protector and a set of sheets, which I put through the wash before putting on the mattress after the full expansion. All seemed well for a few weeks, but then I began to experience itching and skin irritation, which became worse over the ensuing weeks. Welts formed on my upper arms and trunk. They reminded me of the feeling one gets when exposed to fiberglass particles during an insulation installation. It took me a while to identify the cause, but going back to read negative comments about the product on [redacted], it became clear to me that the problem was with the mattress. It looks to be that the delay between purchase and symptoms were related to the breakdown of the fire retardant layer and subsequent working of those sharp particles making their way through the Zinus mattress cover, the waterproof cover, the sheets, and, finally, my pajamas and other clothing, the latter three laundered periodically, which delayed or slightly reduced the problem for a day or so. The symptoms not only included welts and itching, but sneezing and coughing, too, especially right after removing the CPAP mask I wear every night and during naps. I have contacted Amazon.com about this and have been issued a refund, although the warranty period expired 30 days after purchase. I also sent an email to Zinus, but have had no response.
Please, investigate this as soon as possible so that others are not similarly affected. I have taken the mattress outside in a large plastic bag and will dispose of it next week on our normal trash day.

I have a mattress manufactured by zinus and sold by Walmart ...my mattress had no warnings anyway I never removed the cover off the mattress even tho its says u can...i had washed the sheet and i had a black shirt laying on the mattress with no sheet and the shade was open and I seen sparkles allover my black shirt...I found that these mattresses can leak fiberglass ...there is so many complaints on this issue ..I am concerned about children sleeping on these mattresses and breathing this in and irritation of eyes and skin and parents are not knowing about this..I would of not known if I had not seen it on my black shirt ...and this is my guest room where my family sleep...please check all the complaints on line and health issues even pending lawsuits ..why are these still being sold..I am filing a lawsuit ...I covered this mattress now in plastic and threw away the black shirt...Now I called the manufacture and they told me how to clean the fiberglass and find it if it gets on items but I was lucky this room is not being used and I was getting a new mattress par..thank goodness I had had a thick mattress pad before...Now i have to dispose of it but for now I am contacting an attorney ..I have another one I sleep on I checked my mattress cover and sheet and see no sparkles but I am not going to sleep on it ever again ...I am sacking it up and disposing of it I have to hire someone to get them because I am 69 and I am filing a suit on the company if I can find an atty ..and I have stressed over this because I am health conscious ...please help get these mattresses off the market and make consumers aware of this asap before a child dies ..consumers are not being warned ...get this info out asap ..I will contact the news

I purchased a Zinus Spa Sensations Full Size Foam Mattress from Walmart around June of 2018. A few months ago I started having some minor breathing difficulties and developed several rashes. After washing my bedding multiple times I decided to remove the mattress cover in order to wash it. Once I removed it, I noticed millions of extremely tiny, super-fine, splinter-like particles all over me and floating everywhere in the air. Directly underneath the cover is what appears to be a shoddy fiberglass wrap. For months, those fibers have most likely been finding their way through the outer cover as it became more worn with use. Everything I own now is covered in those fibers. I’m not sure who to contact about the danger this poses to those like me with respiratory illnesses, but this needs to be looked into very soon before it causes a serious problem. I have found that I am not the only person to have had this issue. I have COPD and asthma which have been aggravated by these particles. This mattress should be inspected again for safety issues as it can cause respiratory distress.

I have a king size Zinus brand (purchased through Amazon) memory foam mattress that has unleashed fiber glass all over my apartment. It has a thin zip cover over the mattress. My husband and infant daughter also sleep on this bed. My daughter had an accident on the bed and so i quickly removed the bed sheet and also the zip cover that surrounds the bed. The tag said spot clean only so I set the cover aside for when I had some time to spot clean and let it dry. In the meantime I put a waterproof fitted sheet over the bed and put clean sheets back on. I did not notice that on the tag in small print (and not even in the first sentence of 2) that it said not to remove the mattress cover. Nor does it state for that matter that if the cover is removed it will unleash fiber glass particles all over your house.
Not to mention the tag that states this is not visible when it is underneath the mattress and there is nothing stopping you or alerting you not to remove the mattress cover right where the zipper is. I was alone with an infant child and was able to remove the cover within a matter of less than 1 minute as I have to move quickly because my daughter will lose patience, and I also did not want the liquid to soak through the cover and into the mattress itself. We did not discover that there was fiberglass everywhere for 2 weeks.
My husband was searching for a mattress for my sister in law and was thinking of purchasing the same one and while he was searching online came across a review that there is fiberglass in the bed. He called Zinus, and they confirmed this and told him to turn off the lights and use a flashlight to see it. Sure enough it is everywhere. It has been hot and we have been operating a fan which makes it spread even more. Since we have discovered this we have had to leave the apartment and stay with at my in-laws home. We have looked at reviews on Amazon and online searches and sure enough this has happened to ALOT of other people. We even discovered a news station did a report on this same brand of mattress that ruined a families home.
There are also lots of reports about the fiberglass coming through the cover itself. We know other people with this mattress and we checked their bed and have found fiberglass. My husband is a firefighter and understands flame retardants are used in mattresses, but to have a flimsy thin cover WITH A ZIPPER is ridiculous for a mattress that contains loose fiberglass just below the cover. An [REDACTED] Fire Captain came over because he wanted to see what we were dealing with and offer advice and could not believe how bad the situation was,and also thought it was ridiculous and unsafe to have a thin cover WITH AN ACCESSIBLE ZIPPER over all this fiberglass.
This is extremely unsafe and is continuing to unleash fiberglass into many many households. We have an infant daughter and are horrified she has been exposed to this for 2 weeks and are scared to bring her back home. We are in the nightmare stage of trying to clean it up. It is EVERYWHERE and we are having to throw a ton of stuff away. We have heard from other people that this happened to that a professional cleaning service charges thousands of dollars. We live on [REDACTED] and that is not an option for us.
Zinus refuses to help us whatsoever. Amazon has refunded us for the bed but that does not begin to remedy the situation. The company advertises this mattress as safe and more natural but is the exact opposite and contains lots of chemicals and fiberglass. This mattress is clearly unsafe for consumers.
