  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Mar 2, 2017, sent to the company Apr 10, 2017, published by CPSC Jun 7, 2017

The product, in the report: Queen Size Mattress

Consumer stated his mattress contains a plastic powder that causes severe breathing issues (asthma). He feels this is a safety concern.

He stated he contacted manufacture on 1/26/2017- 2/28/2017 and they wouldn’t disclose the name of the plastic powder.

I’m following up regarding my urgent report.

I have additional information for you. I am extremely concerned for the health and safety of consumers and employees.

Consumers are unknowingly being pre-disposed to serious health risks and Purple is not addressing it at ALL. Not to mention, they are advertising and selling based on no powder but look what they are shipping.

I know you all are very busy, but its estimated that over 100,000 consumers are sleeping on this. I’ve been contacted directly by consumers saying they complained of medical issues and Purple said, “tough luck” and stuck them with it.

To silence this they sued me in a Federal Court, issued a TRO and then a Federal Judge overturned it as it’s completely wrong what they are doing.

Here’s a rundown and you can clearly see the powder at the end of the video

    https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php? href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fhonestmattressreviews%2Fvideos%2F768151130028779%2F https://www.honestmattressreviews.com/purple-mattress-vs-honest-reviews/ https://www.honestmattressreviews.com/purple-mattress-powder/ https://www.honestmattressreviews.com/purple-mattress-white-powder/ https://www.honestmattressreviews.com/purples-unknown-powder/ https://www.honestmattressreviews.com/purples-acknowledgement-white-powder/

Not only are they misleading consumers and not informing them of this massive issue they are lying to them. The only mention of this powder is on this one blog post. They don’t inform consumers at or before the point of purchase. As an asthmatic consumers are having issues! https://onpurple.com/blog/non-toxic-plastic-powder

“Here are the details about the inert non-toxic plastic powder that we invented to solve our packaging conundrum: It is NOT a talc powder. Talc is a mineral and our plastic powder contains no talc whatsoever, or any mineral for that matter. It is chemically inactive, AKA an inert substance. It is a food-contact-grade material, meaning that this family of plastic materials can be used for eating utensils, children’s toys, etc. It is 100% non-toxic and is completely harmless. You can think of it being as safe as eating with a plastic fork, so you can rest easy on our bed! In fact, it may be even safer—no Purple product ever stabbed anyone in the lip!”

Here’s their selling video; no powder shown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BvwpjaGZCQ&t=5s Here’s their selling kickstarter video; $2.6M raised; no powder shown: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/227992716/purple-pillow-the-worlds-first-no-pressure-head-be? ref=nav_search

I HIRED A HARVARD LEADING DOCTOR AND SCIENTIST AND HE CONFIRMED THE HEALTH RISKS: [REDACTED]

As you can see there is no warning on either law tag of the powder that is coating the mattress. As I’m an individual with lifetime Asthma, I’m very upset they coat these products without telling consumers. It’s not safe.

After hiring one of Harvard’s most renowned Doctor’s & Scientists he confirmed this is dangerous; [REDACTED]

I know you mentioned you have to take only first hand accounts, but, as I’m terrified of the long-term affects of 100K+ consumers but also their staff. They aren’t taking care of their employees. They aren’t informing consumers. And they still say “

    1. It is 100% non-toxic and is completely harmless.” That’s a complete LIE. Consumers are getting getting sick; daily.

I’ve had many with COPD write to me saying how they are getting headaches, nose bleeds and feel ill. Purple will not take the mattress back and these people are stuck with this. It’s criminal. Please help all of us. [REDACTED]
