The product, in the report: Full size mattress. Coolsense brand bought at big lots in seaford Delaware about 4 years ago. Memory foam mattress in a box type. Gray cover with a navy outline.

have owned a coolsense mattress I bought in biglots. for about 4 years now. and today (7/17/24) I decided that I would wash the cover because my son toddler had peed the bed. I also have a water proof cover I keep on top of it but he had an accident prior to this and made the cover smell funny. I saw that the mattress had a zipper on the bottom. years ago but never messed with it.

my dog has been recently over the last 2 weeks has been sleeping underneath the bed but for the last week He has been itching in the middle of the night. I thought maybe mostitoqies or the flies we bothering him. I would check him for flea or ticks and nothing there was nothing that would explain the itching.

I would also like to add that for the past year and a half my son and I have developed this cough in the morning and night. there’s nothing that could just explain why we have a horrible time first thing in the morning and at night. for me at night I am wheezing and coughing I have been using an inhaler for about a year now.. and my son just now has had to have one kept with him because we could not figure out where this cough was coming from but it’s soo bad.

anyway fast forward to today. I stripped the bed and through the sheets and cover in the washer. and I proceeded to vacuum the blue cover that came with the mattress when I first bought it. and I see some stains. well I finally dared to open the zipper I managed to take the cover and the mesh cover I started to move it and before I knew it I was COVERED in fiberglass. WHY WOULD A COMAPNY PUT A ZIPPER COVER ON A MATTEESS if there is FIBERGLASS INBEDDED IN THE INSIDE OF THE COVERS?!!? I freaked out but before I figured out the fiberglass was on me I was researching how to clean a memory foam mattress and then I came acrossed the fiberglass reviews but as I was doing that my 3 year old came into the room and stepped on to the bed without the cover on.. so he had fiberglass in his feet. EVERYTHING came full circle as to why my dog is so itchy and why we can’t breath!! I had to throw away all my blankets. the surrounding clothes.. the metal frame is covered in the fiberglass because it had been shedding the fibers. we moved into a new apartment in February and the apartment has new carpet. now there’s fiberglass in the carpet. I had to throw out my son’s favorite stuffed animals clothes shoes everything underneath the bed was covered in fiberglass. I’m a single mom this is the ONLY mattress we have. I called my mom and she went to the store and helped me put the mattress in a bed plastic bag and we sealed it so that the fibers can’t get out. I got new sheets and a blanket in the mean time. I am absolutely devastated and shocked. I don’t know what to do now except I feel so guilty my dog is in so much pain due to the itchiness and how compromised my son’s lungs and my own have been compromised because of how long 3 years we have been sleeping in the bed while it’s been shedding fiberglass everywhere. nothing on the labels warns you about it containing fiberglass its not even listed as a material used in the bed.
