The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Ashley Homestore 12” Queen Mattress in a Box

We ordered two 12” foam mattresses from Ashley Homestore online in November 2019. We would notice little sparkling fibers but never connected it to the mattresses until my daughter noticed tons coming out of her mattress. This explains the bad rashes she has had. It was in everything. We had to throw out all of her clothing and anything else made of fabric. I’m sure it is in out air ducts too.

The product, in the report: Ashely Sleep Santa Fe Plush Mattress Item number: M67651

I purchased the mattress only after the sales associate AND store manager told me the mattress did not off-gas. When it arrived, it did. I let it air out for 4 days and 3 nights, then made the terrible decision to sleep on it. Each morning of those 3 nights, I woke with nose bleeding when I blew my nose. The mattress also gave off enough gas to make my pillow smell so bad by the third day that I felt a bit of a panic when I realized that. The smell had soaked through a sheet and comforter that covered the bed (this was a comforter that I had placed over the mattress and underneath me while I slept to try to keep any gas from getting to me- obviously did not work at all). Whoever regulates these mattress materials needs to do a way better job of it. It is very clear that they are toxic. I am sensitive, yes. But, if this mattress caused me to have nose bleeding and allergic type reactions, then I am quite sure others who sleep on them without the symptoms are still being exposed to chemicals that they may not recognize as hazardous but that are hazardous. Please take more care in regulating a product that people spend so much time laying on.
