As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Wayfair Sleep 12” Plush innerspring mattress, twin size 38” W x74”L, 55 lbs

I purchased three (3) Wayfair Sleep 12” Plush Innerspring Mattresses. On May 2, UPS put them in my garage when they delivered them.

On Saturday, May 6, I carried one of the boxes into the house and began to unpack it according to the instructions: 1. unbox; 2. unroll; 3. expand. I am including a picture of the box for your ready reference. The mattress was compressed and encased in heavy plastic. I cut the plastic away. As the last strand of plastic was cut, the mattress exploded open. I was on my knees when I cut the last strand and the mattress threw me back onto the floor, jarring my left had, arm, and shoulder. Luckily, my three-year-old grandson was not near me or he would have been killed. I cannot lift my arm forward above the waist. I have an orthopedic appointment on May 25, 2017, and will be happy to provide you with that medical report when I receive it.

I notified Wayfair customer service and they advised me to write an e-mail to customeradvocacy@wayfair.com, which I did on May 8, advising them of the dangerous nature of their product, and requested their insurance contact information. I am awaiting their reply.

The only instructions or documents accompanying this item are the instructions on the box. There is no warning of the explosive nature of the mattress, or instructions on how to safely unpack the mattress. This is negligent as it can and did cause injury and could even result in death.
