The product, in the report: Twin size memory foam mattress

I washed the covers of my 4 kids.. they are memory foam and my whole house got fiberglass. I had to throw away all 4 sets of bedding and bunch of clothes since my washer had fiberglass and I did not notice were all this fiber glass until it was way too late. My mattress cover had no label indicating I could remove it to wash it. And I did it to all 4 mattresses so the amount of fiberglass was just too much. We had our clothes ruined and occasionally we will get some on us and get skin irritation my poor kids lost alot of school uniforms and my husband work clothes including daily clothe. The pain you get when you have cloth filled with fiberglass is unimaginable

The product, in the report: Spa Sensations 5 Memory Foam Youth Mattress Multiple Colors

Safety Concern - Product Zinus Spa Sensations 5 Memory Foam Youth Mattress. Encase cover is made with fiberglass. Email rec’d today 5/28/2019 from Zinus I voided the mattress flammable warranty because I removed the zipper cover which they believe is a locked zipper cover, which it is not. There are two covers the zipper and the encase, the encase cover is the made with Fiberglass. I bought the product in 2016 and has a 10 year warranty. There are reviews I have read consumers complaining of the same issue. I removed the zipper cover to wash and soon after I started itching. I looked @my pants and full of fibers. I was wearing a pair of jeans and leggings and the fiberglass penetrated both. My resolution sought to the Zinus I just want a mattress that does not have a cover that has fiberglass, or a new mattress without fiberglass. I was denied. I did further research and the mattress only needs to conform to fire regulations, but Zinus is stating it is the encase cover. If there were to be a fire the cover would let off toxins, i.e., Formaldehyde and I did state that the cover is a silicate product and unsafe, both I spoke to acknowledged. Was also recorded in my first call and I was not informed of that. Sent numerous pictures. Do not recall in reading the product details/description in 2016 fiberglass in the product. Emailed Zinus 5/23/2019 and was told would send via email form to complete. I called again on 5/24/2019 and another emailed me to send pics, etc., which I did. I still have the information packet that came with the product and does not mention about fiberglass in its product. Friction breaks down fiberglass, slept on.

The product, in the report: Foam Mattress

The consumer indicates that the product is advertised as having a strong odor that will dissipate in seventy-two hours or less. After one week, the consumer states that the mattress emitted a strong mold smell. The consumer eventually started sleeping on the mattress when he thought the product was okay to use however every time he changed the sheets, they also smelled of mold.

The consumer notes that the mattress has never been wet.

02/12/2019 – The consumer started coughing and he believes it is due to the mattress. The consumer visited an Urgent Care and after having explained about the mattress, the Doctor informed him that it could be an environmental allergy to mold.

The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative he spoke to informed him that the odor is normal and that it should dissipate within seventy-two hours. The consumer informed them that it had been more than seventy-two hours since it was purchased and it still had an unpleasant smell; the consumer was advised to return the product to the retailer.

The consumer plans on keeping his mattress for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Mattress for bed.

Purchase the Spa Sensations 12” Theratouch Memory foam mattress from WalMart.com on 9-20-2014. My husband and I have been itching for over a year due to the fiberglass inner mattress cover that we discovered was torn and penetrated through our brand new sheets. Now my hair stand has a constant itches no/burning sensation all over his body having been adversely affected by the 100% fiberglasstorn inner shell. Reviewed item on Walmart.com. Called WalMart.com and they will only give info about manufacturer, from China. So we truly have no recourse outside of seeking compensation through a lawsuit.

The product, in the report: Spa sensations 8 inch memory foam mattress.

My fiancé and I had purchased 3 spa sensations memory foam mattresses from Walmart.com about 2 years ago. In the span of this time we had 1 mattress spill it’s fiberglass flame retardant layer over an entire room. Now, after finally getting that cleaned up and losing tons of money because of having to throw out stuffed animals, clothing, bedding and other furniture, we now have a second incident with a twin size mattress in my daughter’s room. We will now once again end up taking another hit for stuffed animals, toys, bedding, clothing, and carpet cleaning because this layer was not manufactured properly. This product needs to be investigated. Fiberglass should not be used in bedding in any way.

The product, in the report: 10 in memory foam king spa sensations and a 6in memory foam twin spa sensations mattress.

We bought a king memory foam mattress in march 2015 and a twin memory foam mattress in july 2015. Both spa sensations from zinus co. Found mold on the underside of both. Contacted the co., they said it’s not included in warranty. Upon Google searching, I’ve found our sweating in our sleep most likely caused the moisture added to the fact our mattresses are on plastic covered box springs. Apparently this inhibits adequate airflow. So now we just want even exchanges.

The product, in the report: 12” thick memory foam mattress California king size Submitter Identified manufacturer address: 461-469#, Huangzhu Road, Jimei District, Xiamen City, Fujian Provence, China

(06/2014) The consumer stated her husband started itching on the upper part of his body. The consumer and her daughter also had itching on their body. They were also having respiratory issues.

In August of 2014, the consumer put dark curtains in her bedroom. IN September of 2014 the consumer noticed fiberglass on her nightstand when the sun came thru crack in curtains.

(9/2014)The consumer stated that she washed the mattress cover, she noticed that the mesh that covered the mattress was coming apart. The consumer used a flashlight on the mesh cover and saw shiny threads on the mesh. This is when she discovered that the fire retardant layer around the foam was fiberglass which cause the itching on their body.

Because of laundering the washable cover. The fiberglass is in everything in her home. All of her clothes have to be replaced. It also got into the air conditioning in house. The fiberglass stuck to the wood in her home.

The consumer moved out of the home on September, 2014. She has not moved back in. She is living in a travel trailer on the property.

There were no warning labels, no date of manufacturer, nor was there an import delivery date on the mattress. There was a GCC included per the consumer.

((/2014) The consumer contacted Walmart and was advised that they did not have any responsibility for the product and referred the consumer to the manufacturer.

(09/2014) the consumer contacted the manufacturer and was advised that she may have purchased before the warning label was put on the product. Since it is only sold online this has not been verified.

The mattress tested and it was verified by the insurance company for the mattress manufacturer that the layer is fiberglass and was found throughout the house by the insurance company.
