The product, in the report: The product was purchased on Amazon, titled, “Olee Sleep 10 Inch Grey I Gel Layer Top Memory Foam Mattress 10FM02Q”. It is a queen-sized memory foam mattress, 10 inches thick, 80 inches long, and 60 inches wide, weighing approximately 50 pounds and 15 ounces, and manufactured in Indonesia. It contains 4 layers: 1.5-inch I-gel memory foam, 1.5-inch HD foam, 2.5-inch convoluted HD foam, and 4.5-inch HD foam. The tag states the following materials for the foam layers: Polyurethane foam pad 77%, viscoelastic polyurethane foam 22%, polyurethane gel 1%. The mattress is covered with an inner and outer cover. According to the tag, the inner cover is 100% glass fiber and the outer cover is 93% polyester, 7% spandex. The mattress colors consisted of a grey bottom half and white top half, shaped in a wave-like pattern. The tag states “Reg. No. UT-4723 (ID)”, “Made for Grand Life, Inc., [REDACTED], Carlstadt, NJ 07072”, “Manufactured by PT. ECOS JAVA INDONESIA”, “Date of Manufacture: 03 OCT 2019”, “Imported U.S. Records Location: GRAND LIFE, INC.”, “Model: <10FM02Q>”, and “Prototype ID: <GTI-FM-0901>”.

On April 14, 2020, I ordered an “Olee Sleep 10 Inch Grey I Gel Layer Top Memory Foam Mattress 10FM02Q”. Over the last few years, my partner and I have been dealing with dry, itchy eyes, sore throats, occasional rashes, and itchy skin. Recently, I’ve been developing worsening rashes and itchiness that did not seem to go away. In our attempts to track down what’s been causing these issues, we discovered that the inner cover of the mattress we purchased is 100% glass fiber. We then confirmed the source by shining a flashlight on the mattress, foam topper, and sheets with the lights turned off. We saw probably thousands of tiny, perfectly straight, reflective lines on all the surfaces. We confirmed with images and reports online that these reflective “slivers” were, indeed, fiberglass. We have never removed the outer cover of the mattress, nor has it been ripped, torn, or damaged in any way. It seems the fiberglass from the inner cover has worked its way out over the years, contaminating our mattress topper, sheets, blankets, pillows, and clothing. The result of the mattress not only containing fiberglass, but not containing a way to prevent it from escaping, is, I presume, the very health issues I mentioned previously.
