The product, in the report: Nectar Premier Copper 14” Memory Foam Mattress
Our Nectar mattress had a cover with a zipper that we removed to wash when it was heavily soiled. There was a warning label to not remove and to spot clean only but nothing about how removal would expose us and our home and family and HVAC system to fiberglass shards. After attempted and failed containment and remediation, we are now dealing with thousands of dollars of cleanup and needing replacement items for our home, including new ductwork, mattress and linens, washer and dryer, rugs, and possibly more. And currently we are struggling with what steps to take next.

The product, in the report: The Nectar Mattresss KING
In 2018 I purchased a Nectar mattress. Recently I removed the washable cover to launder it, which any reasonable person would do with a mattress cover. When I went to put the clean cover back on a few days later, I discovered fiberglass fibers had spread throughout my bedroom, covering my carpet, clothing, and bedding. The fiberglass came from a fire barrier sock inside the mattress that is not visible or clearly disclosed to the consumer. There was no adequate warning that removing the outer cover would release fiberglass fibers into the home environment. The contamination was extensive and very difficult to clean up. Multiple items of clothing, bedding, and carpet were damaged or ruined. This is a known issue with Nectar mattresses and has been reported by many other consumers. The product design is dangerous because it relies on the outer cover to contain hazardous fiberglass material, but does not make this risk clear to consumers in a way that would prevent ordinary use like washing the cover. I am requesting that the CPSC investigate Nectar Sleep and this product line for adequate disclosure and consumer safety.

No one hurt Made Dec 27, 2025, sent to the company Dec 31, 2025, published by CPSC Jan 15, 2026
The product, in the report: NectarMemory Foam Bed in a Box - Queen Mattress
I am reporting a safety hazard involving a Nectar Queen mattress purchased in March 2021. The mattress was being used as intended by a household, including adults and children. Recently, the mattress began deteriorating and releasing fiberglass. There were no warnings at the time of purchase, and the mattress itself has no notice or labeling indicating it contains fiberglass. As a result, members of the household have been coughing and experiencing respiratory irritation from exposure to the fiberglass. Fiberglass particles have spread throughout the living space, contaminating bedding, furniture, and floors. This has required extensive cleaning and has raised serious concerns about ongoing health risks. The product was being used normally for sleeping. The injuries and symptoms occurred as a direct result of fiberglass escaping from the mattress during normal use, which was unexpected and undisclosed. This issue represents a serious health and safety hazard, and I am reporting it to prevent potential harm to

The product, in the report: Nectar King Mattress purchased in 2020 White and blue cover Finished size: 80 in x 76 in Model No: 410321 - 11xx
A Nectar mattress did not properly label that fiberglass would spread if the mattress cover was removed. The tag did not advertise fiberglass as part of the material. The tag did not say “do not remove” the the mattress cover. The tag only said spot clean. The mattress cover has a zipper for easy removal. Once removed, fiberglass particles contaminate the home.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Mar 2, 2023, sent to the company Mar 8, 2023, published by CPSC Mar 22, 2023
The product, in the report: The mattress is made from NECTAR and is grey with a white top and blue zipper. It was the cal king size.
In the beginning of 2022 we purchased a mattress from NECTAR that stated we could machine was the unzippable cover. Shortly after doing so our family started experiencing health issues, such as bloody noses, coughs, chest and lung pain and breathing difficuluties. These have also been medically documented over the course of the year and for the last 40 days we have been displaced from our home. Through extensive video evidence our home and car insurance accepted our claims due to fiberglass contamination. Not only did it state we could wash it, it did not list the ingredients on the tag. We have lost about 80 percent of our belongings and the cost is in the tens of thousands. My son whom I breastfed in bed, consistently had irritation and rashes, eyes and started coughing. By the time that we discovered this every foot of our home was covered.

The product, in the report: Nectar memory foam mattress in a box Queen size
I bought a Nectar mattress from Wal Mart nearly 4 years ago. June of 2021 I was cleaning when I discovered white hairs standing straight up on my mattress. I have black dogs so I knew it wasn’t from them. So I vacuumed really doing nothing. So I unzipped the cover to discover the fire sock. I evacuated my bedroom and closed it off for prolly 3 months. I am effected everyday from this. It’s very painful. It has affected my lungs, my eyesight, my skin and my whole well being.

Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 25, 2018, sent to the company Jun 15, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 29, 2018
The product, in the report: Nectar Sleep Queen size memory foam mattress.
I purchased a mattress online from NectarSleep.com because their web site states that the mattresses are Certipur-US certified. Their web site FAQ’s also state that the mattresses are certified by 5 other rating groups to be free from known harmful chemicals and gasses, VOC’s and many other chemicals as listed on their site. They also state that off-gassing is limited or non-existent and any odor should dissipate within a few days. I have now had this bed opened in a well ventilated bedroom since February 16, 2018 and the out-gassing has made the bedroom unusable due to the toxic odor. If we leave the bedroom door open, the odor permeates the rest of the house making it unlivable as well. I have unzipped the provided mattress cover to allow more air to circulate but that makes the odor even worse. I moved the mattress to the garage hoping that the odor would dissipate. I thought that had worked so I moved the bed back inside, but within a few minutes, the toxic odor had returned. You can smell the bed from outside the house when the bedroom window is open. It has now been about 6 weeks since opening the bed and everyone who has been in the house has complained of nose, throat, eye and lung irritation as well as a toxic taste in their mouths that won’t go away. On March 24, 2018, Nectar removed the bed. We have ventilated the room but the odor has permeated everything in the room including drapes, carpeting, clothing, bed linens and everything else in the room. The bed which I was going to replace with the Nectar had to be removed (which I paid for) because it also was contaminated by the odor from the Nectar bed.
