Hurt, care not known Made Sep 10, 2026, sent to the company Sep 14, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 28, 2026
The product, in the report: Molblly Queen Mattress, 12 Inch Memory Foam Mattress in a Box, Breathable Bed Comfortable Mattress for Cooler Sleep Supportive & Pressure Relief, 60” X 80” X 12”
Brand: Molblly Product description: Molblly Queen Size Mattress, 12-inch Cooling-Gel Memory Foam Mattress in a Box, Breathable Bed Mattress for Cooler Sleep, Supportive & Pressure Relief Size: Queen, approximately 60” x 80” x 12” Retailer: Amazon Purchase date: September 6, 2020 Manufacturer/Importer/Private Labeler: Molblly Model/serial number: Unknown/not presently accessible because the mattress has been sealed in plastic and removed from the residence as a safety precaution. Incident Date September 79, 2026 Incident Location My residence in Florida. Incident Description I am reporting a potential consumer product safety hazard involving a Molblly 12-inch queen-size cooling-gel memory foam mattress that I purchased through Amazon on September 6, 2020. On Monday, September 7, 2026, the mattress’s factory zippered outer cover was removed. At the time, I was not aware that removing the cover could potentially expose or disturb a fiberglass-containing fire barrier inside the mattress. The mattress remained without its outer cover until Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The bedroom’s air conditioning was operating during this period. The bedroom has an air-conditioning supply vent but does not have a return-air vent. On Wednesday, I put the zippered outer cover back onto the mattress. I then lay on the mattress for approximately 30 minutes. Subsequently, I experienced itching/skin irritation. During my investigation of the mattress and surrounding bed area, I observed very fine, thin, reflective fibers on the fabric-covered support/bunkie board underneath the mattress. I photographed these fibers. I am concerned that these fibers may be fiberglass released from the mattress’s internal fire barrier. I have not had the fibers laboratory-tested and therefore cannot independently confirm their composition. After discovering the potential fiberglass issue, I researched this mattress and learned that Molblly has historically used fiberglass in the inner cover/fire-barrier construction of at least some of its memory-foam mattresses. My mattress was purchased in 2020. I am concerned that consumers who purchased mattresses from this period may not have been adequately informed that removing a zippered outer cover could potentially expose fiberglass or allow glass fibers to escape into the sleeping environment. As a precaution, I stopped using the mattress. The mattress was placed into a protective plastic mattress bag before being removed from my residence and is currently sealed and outside the home. I have intentionally not reopened the bag because I do not want to risk releasing additional fibers. I am now faced with the need to clean the bedroom and potentially affected belongings using HEPA filtration and specialized cleaning procedures. I am also evaluating whether additional environmental testing or professional remediation will be necessary. Nature of Injury Potential Injury I experienced itching/skin irritation following the incident and after lying on the mattress. My concern is also the potential for exposure of the skin, eyes and respiratory system to fiberglass or similar glass fibers if these materials escape from the mattress and become airborne or settle onto bedding, furniture, flooring and other household surfaces. I am particularly concerned that the mattress was manufactured with a zippered outer cover that a consumer could reasonably interpret as removable. If removal of that cover can expose a fiberglass-containing layer, I believe consumers should receive prominent and explicit warnings identifying the material and explaining the potential consequences of removing the cover. Property Impact Fine reflective fibers were observed on the fabric-covered support/bunkie board beneath the mattress. Because of concern about spreading the suspected fibers, the mattress has been sealed and removed from the residence. I am undertaking specialized HEPA cleaning of the bedroom and affected surfaces and may incur expenses for HEPA equipment, air filtration, environmental testing, cleaning, replacement of contaminated items, and potentially professional remediation. I have retained photographs documenting the suspected fibers and screenshots documenting the Amazon purchase and exact mattress description. Requested CPSC Action I respectfully request that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission investigate: Whether this Molblly mattress model sold in approximately 2020 contains fiberglass or glass fibers in its internal fire barrier or inner cover. Whether fiberglass or glass fibers can escape when the factory-installed zippered outer cover is removed. Whether the warnings and care instructions provided with these mattresses adequately disclosed the presence of fiberglass and the consequences of removing the zippered cover. Whether other consumers have reported similar fiberglass releases involving Molblly mattresses. Whether additional consumer warnings, corrective action, notification, or recall may be appropriate. I am submitting this report because I believe consumers should be clearly informed when a mattress contains fiberglass or another material that may be released into the home if a zippered cover is removed. I can provide photographs of the suspected fibers, proof of purchase from Amazon, photographs/screenshots identifying the mattress, and documentation of cleanup or testing expenses if requested. I certify that the information in this report is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge, information, and belief.

The product, in the report: Molblly Full Mattress, 10 Inch Hybrid Mattress in a Box with Gel Memory Foam, Individually Wrapped Pocket Coils Innerspring, Pressure-Relieving and Supportive, Non-Fiberglass
Hi,
I purchased this mattress on Amazon, advertised as fiberglass-free. I only discovered this month that it’s indeed NOT fiberglass-free, and is shedding it all over.
It is shedding actual fiberglass shards, creating a serious safety hazard in my home.
At the time of purchase, I was specifically looking for a fiberglass-free mattress, which Molby claimed to be.
Please refer to attached photos and a video documenting the issue.
All my belongings under my bed are affected with fiberglass as well. Ocassionally I find fiberglass shards in my skin as well.

I purchased a MOLBLLY mattress from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B098DNQQX5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1) because it claimed not to contain fiberglass. The product, in the report: Queen Molbilly Mattress. Purchased off of Amazon
Fiberglass leaked out of mattress. We were cleaning the mattress cover, on the mattress it said it was machine washable so we washed it unaware that it contained fiber glass. After washing the mattress cover we found fiber glass particles all over the washer and dryer and all over the bed sheets blanket and the bed room.
