  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 5, 2026, sent to the company Jul 8, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 22, 2026

The product, in the report: KREHAMN Foam mattress, firm, white, Queen

I bought an ikea foam mattress. After 3 days of airing it out as instructed, it reeked of chemicals and gave my child and I wheezing, itchy eyes, stuffy noses. After day 5, I took off the removable zippered cover to air it out. I found three large black spots physically on the foam, underneath the batting. I called IKEA Renton, they scheduled a pickup for today, july 4 2026 and confirmed again today July 4 2026 via customer service chat they are coming today. IKEA Renton pickup service is a no call no show. My toddler and I are left with a moldy mattress and lost out on Fourth of July festivities waiting for IKEA to call and give me a delivery window. I cannot return this in my vehicle as the black spots are now having an odor and the VOC off gassing, I dont know at this point, 8 days is still horrid and causing us worse allergies. We are waiting for our refund so we can buy a new mattress. Until then we are sleeping on an off gassing questionable black spotted IKEA mattress. It hurts to breathe in the fumes. What other choice do I have? We need a bed. Child is asthmatic and her eyes are swollen, wheezing, its awful

The product, in the report: Ikea AMSOSEN mattress

I am reaching out regarding a safety concern with a mattress (the AMSOSEN mattress) I purchased from IKEA. After closely examining the product label, I was surprised to find that it lists fiberglass (glass fiber) among the materials used.

As a customer, I was not made aware at the time of purchase that the mattress contained fiberglass, nor was there any clear warning about the potential health and contamination risks associated with this materialespecially if the cover is removed or damaged. I am now concerned about the safety of this product in my home.

The product, in the report: IKEA HESSTUN spring mattress (Queen, White). Firm. Art Nr 303.074.33

After sleeping on the new mattress I had red eyes next morning.

Despite of all my attempts to air the room, the mattress still has some chemical odor, causing red itchy eyes, that are swollen. In addition I have scratchy throat and dizziness every time I am around the mattress. The reaction to the mattress is really fast. Whenever I leave the room and stay away from the mattress, I feel significantly better.

I had three visits to ophthalmologists, and none of the specialists found anything wrong with my eyes. They suggested I had an allergic reaction.
