  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Dec 23, 2013, sent to the company Jan 22, 2014, published by CPSC Feb 12, 2014

The product, in the report: Bedford PT King Mattress

I purchased a king size mattress set (11/07/2013) from Bedco Mattress Superstore (Oregon Rugs & Mattress company) that contained a very loud odor that smell of a chemical fume, that was strong enough to cause me to experience headaches, after sleeping on and awakening the following morning and my nearly eight month old pregnant wife to become nauseous. I contacted Bedco via email, they picked up the mattress because of our fears and concerns, after their own examination. Bedco denied through ([REDACTED]) that any odor existed and that (Oregon Rug & Mattress Co.) are mailing me a letter of their unsuccessful attempt to force me to take the bed back. Bed co Mattress Superstores product has made us very insecure nor can we trust our account of business with them. We would like to be refunded aod discontinue any relation with this company. Below are emails sent to Bed co Super Store to convey the threat we felt of their merchandise we received, conditions we suffered and our desire to be refunded- and relieve of this purchase. Please review content of emails sent:

    [REDACTED],

As a result of our experience with Bedco’s mattress, we are not confident nor feel secure and safe about our purchase, please “DO NOT RETURN THE MATTRESS NOR ANY BEDCO PRODUCT TO OUR HOME”. We are asking and will seek a full refund.

My wife and I feel that your product placed our household into hazardous conditions. Based on our experience we would not like to expose our children or unborn child nor ourselves to any potential threat of harm that your product may pose.

    Sincerely,

    [REDACTED]

    [REDACTED],

We have a very big issue here. I contact Beclco and spoke to one of your salesman 15 min. after our bed had arrived on this past Friday ( 11 /22/13) because of the very fowl odor that the bed has, I was instructed by that same salesman (who told me that the mattress is safe, that the odor was not chemical based and harmless) to open-up the window in the room that the bed is in for an hour or so and let the bed air out. Distruct and disappointed that I had to take such measure for a new bed and after spending the amount of money I did for it, we obliged

After 4- 5 hours of allowing the mattress to air out, that action appeared to have very little impact if any at all. While me and my pregnant wife sfept on the mattress on the first night I experienced head aches the proceeding morning and my wife was nauseous My wife resided in the room much of that following day while having the window open to allow the room to breathe. We’ve now winterized that window. the odor has over taken our room and after another nights sleep while using the mattress, we’ve have experienced the same physical symptoms as the night before. My wife now has. declared the room off limits for herself and our 3 year old daughter in fear of the safety of our unborn child and their physical health. This is totally unacceptable and we want to know how Bedco is going to resolve this issue/matter A.S.A.P! I look forward to an immediate response.

    Sincerely,

    [REDACTED]
