No one hurt Made Feb 10, 2026, sent to the company Feb 13, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 2, 2026
The product, in the report: Brand Name: Signature Design by Ashley Manufacturer: Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. Model: CHIME 12-inch plush memory foam queen mattress Retailer: ASHLEY Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/Ashley-Furniture-Signature-Design-Mattress/dp/B07B9KDM5R/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 Purchase Date: March 2, 2020
Detailed statement: The mattress was purchased in 2020 and is still available for sale as of 2026. I discovered the mattress contained fiberglass on February 3, 2026, when I removed the cover for cleaning. The cover had a large zipper that facilitated removal. There was no tag or information stating that the cover should not be removed. After removing the mattress cover, I discovered an unusual fibrous material surrounding the mattress. The material had also fallen on my floor. I did not know it was fiberglass, so I vacuumed the material with a standard vacuum cleaner. This turned the fibers into smaller glittering dust I now know is fiberglass. The fiberglass dust contaminated my entire bedroom and all of my belongings. I have experienced breathing problems and skin irritation since the incident. Professional cleaning of the fiberglass is estimated at $4,000. Because I could not afford professional cleanup services, I have undertaken the cleanup myself. This has cost me $2,600 to date, including the purchase of a HEPA-filter vacuum and air purifier, hazmat suits, N95 respirators, gloves, goggles, and other cleaning supplies. I have had to remove my carpet and discard it, along with all the belongings in the room, including my entire wardrobe. I have contacted public health officials, product liability attorneys, Chemists at [REDACTED], and [REDACTED] in Sacramento for guidance on addressing the contamination, but I have not yet received helpful information regarding the material or on how to properly remove it. I am concerned that others who purchased the mattress are at risk and that the company selling the mattresses is not being held responsible. I plan to contact the following law firm regarding what appears to be a class action lawsuit regarding the product. Attached is my purchase receipt. I took a time-lapse video of my husband and I removing all of our belongings, including the mattress and carpet, from our bedroom while wearing hazmat PPE. Please let me know how you plan to proceed with this story and whether you have any further questions. I request that you notify me of your consent to the use of any information provided in this email, including images and personal information. Thank you!

The product, in the report: Signature Design by Ashley Queen Size Chime 12 Inch Medium Firm Memory Foam Mattress. https://a.co/d/6jGzbBb
Fiberglass Mattress. This leaks fiberglass from the bottom of the mattress cover. I have never once moved the mattress in two years or removed the cover. I only noticed the fiberglass leak upon moving to a new apartment. The fiberglass had leaked all over items stored underneath the bed, contaminating everything and causing headache symptoms and dry irritated throat when trying to mitigate.

The product, in the report: This was an older model of the ashley chime full mattress. It is white and has a weave pattern.
Fiberglass leak from ashley chime mattress. It is all over my home. The mattress cover was never removed. Honestly this really irritates me that companies are allowed to use such a hazardous material inside something people sleep on because they are too cheap to find alternatives.

The product, in the report: Ashley Chime 12 Inch Medium Firm Memory Foam Mattress
Ashley Foam mattress started leaking fiberglass all over my daughters room, to include her mattress, bed frame, sheets, comforter, pillows, clothing and rug. I contacted Ashley Furniture and submitted all the documentation (pictures, videos, receipts) and they are not answering me regarding replacing all these items. My daughter has had health reactions to the fiberglass to include itching, rashes and GI issues. She has been sleeping on a couch now for over 3 weeks and cannot enter her room due to the fiberglass contamination.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Apr 11, 2022, sent to the company Apr 13, 2022, published by CPSC Apr 27, 2022
The product, in the report: Memory Foam Pink Full size mattress
I purchased a memory foam mattress from Oak Liquidators in my town, which is manufactured by Ashley Furniture. Mattress inner cover is made up of %65 fiberglass. The mattress has an outer tag that does not say cannot be removed, and it has a zipper all through out the bed, which made me think it was removable for clean up. I took it off to wash it and never noticed the fiberglass had contaminated my kids bedroom and now my entire home is contaminated. Fiberglass on all of our clothing, couches, washer, dryer, carpet, it’s everywhere. My home insurance has denied my claim, so I’m having to pay everything out of pocket. My kids have been referred to see lung specialists and eye doctors since they have been in contact with the fibers since 2019. We itch constantly, eye irritation, bloody noses. Not to mention I’m pregnant and dealing with this 10 weeks from having my baby.
