The product, in the report: Product Name: Cradlewise Smart Crib blanket
Our Cradlewise Smart Crib experienced a complete hardware failure due to an internal wire harness pinching and chafing within the base. This is a clear manufacturing and engineering defect. A buried electrical wire harness should never experience friction or chafing from normal use. This creates an immediate fire hazard and electrical short-circuit risk directly underneath a sleeping infant. When contacted, the manufacturer acknowledged the hardware issue but refused to repair the defect without a fee ($210), stating that because the unit was purchased secondhand, all warranties are void. The company is actively attempting to profit off a known structural safety defect in a baby product rather than issuing a safety recall or fix.
The Flaw: The internal power wire routing is physically secured to moving square tubing with zip ties. As the crib operates its bouncing mechanism, the wire is constantly subjected to twisting, bouncing, and mechanical torque. The Hazard: Over time, the internal insulation completely wears away, exposing bare copper wiring against the metal chassis. This creates active short-circuiting, electrical current leakage through the frame, and a severe electrical/fire risk directly under an infant’s sleeping area. Proof of Systematic Failure: There is a public [REDACTED] consumer video (called: [REDACTED]. I am unable to post hyperlinks here) documenting the crib making popping noises and shutting down mid-sleep because the electrical short triggers a desperate safety shutoff. The video demonstrates the consumer attempting to fix the exposed wiring himself.
