The product, in the report: Product Name: Sans Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier Brand: Sans (livesans.com) Product Type: Countertop reverse osmosis water purification system designed for home drinking water use. The unit filters tap water through a multi-stage reverse osmosis process and dispenses purified water into a removable pitcher for household consumption. Description: The unit consists of a rear water intake tank, an internal multi-stage filtration system including an RO filter, a sealed internal post-filtration storage tank that cannot be accessed or cleaned by the user, and a front removable pitcher. The unit also features a built-in TDS (total dissolved solids) digital display meter. Color: White The product is marketed as a safe, high-performance drinking water solution for families and is sold directly through the manufacturer’s website at livesans.com

I purchased a Sans countertop reverse osmosis water purifier in August 2024. My household, including young children, has been using it daily as our primary source of drinking water, following all recommended maintenance procedures provided by the manufacturer. Over several months I noticed recurring algae growth in the rear tank and eventually in the front pitcher, which is stored exclusively in the refrigerator and not exposed to sunlight. My household experienced gastrointestinal issues over approximately one month that resolved after discontinuing use of the purifier and switching to bottled water. Upon further inspection I identified a sealed internal post-filtration storage tank that cannot be accessed, cleaned, or inspected by the user which is a design limitation confirmed by the manufacturer’s customer support team. This sealed chamber holds filtered water before it is dispensed and has no pathway for cleaning or maintenance. Most recently, upon inspecting the unit after receiving a replacement tank from the manufacturer, I discovered visible discoloration around the RO filter port connection along with a strong foul odor consistent with mold growth inside the filtration system itself. I contacted the manufacturer multiple times over several months, providing photos and video documentation. The manufacturer has confirmed they cannot inspect, test, or service the internal sealed tank, and their most recent response directed me to purchase a replacement filter rather than addressing the safety concern. The product is a countertop water purifier marketed as a safe drinking water solution for families. The concern is that the sealed internal design may harbor mold or biofilm that cannot be detected, cleaned, or remediated, and may be transferring contamination to drinking water.
