The product, in the report: Crate&Barrel Finn Sage Green Wood 31” Round Wall Mirror
A mirror from Crate&Barrel was hanging over my baby’s changing table. The mirror was advertised as a nursery mirror and is shown on Crate&Barrel’s website to be mounted over changing tables. Today, after hanging on the wall for about ~21 months, the mirror fell off while I was changing my baby. I was able to quickly catch the mirror to protect my son, but it is very heavy and it could have easily fallen on him and killed him. Upon inspection, I found that my mounting screws were still secured tightly to the wall. The failure was a result of the mirror bracket breaking off the the mirror itself. It appears that the weight of the mirror caused the screws to tear through the fiberboard to which they were secured. This was not an installation error. This is an issue with the product design. It is very dangerous to market a heavy mirror to hang over a baby changing table if the brackets cannot hold it’s weight.
