No one hurt Made Jan 31, 2026, sent to the company Feb 5, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 20, 2026
The product, in the report: Conair Light Up Make up Mirror Model BERC19.
We purchased a light up makeup mirror by Conair in November 2022. Last night, the mirror made a very loud pop and hissing noise and started to smoke. The toxic smoke filled up the room and we have had to throw almost everything out of my daughter’s room because of the toxic nature of the smoke. As soon as we heard the noise we took it outside to put out the soon to be fire and the mirror then cracked due to the heat of the battery. The mirror contained a lithium ion battery. This could have cause a house fire had we not been home. We need respirators to enter her room until it can be aired out and fully cleaned.
