The product, in the report: 23” Round Fire Pit
I recently purchased the Round Fire Pit (SKU: 2595032, Model: DS-4724) from my local Menards, and have found it to be both a highly inferior as well as downright dangerous product.
I realize that this is an inexpensive firepit ($49), but I do not think I have unrealistic expectations even given the price level.
The first issue was assembling the firepit, which was no easy task give the incredible poor craftsmanship, which left many screw holes un-punched, and dimensions that were not to-spec, making things much snugger fit than they should have been. After assembling the unit, we placed a grill cover over it to protect it from the elements and to prevent rust. A week later, we decided to have our first fire in it. We took the grill cover off, and placed three small logs in, and got a fire going. Just about the time that the fire had caught, one of the legs snapped off. In one week this pitiful excuse for a firepit had rusted through its leg, spilling flaming logs and hot ash everywhere. Honestly, I cannot believe how horribly irresponsible and negligent Menards has acted in selling such a poorly made and dangerous product, all in the name of making an easy buck.
