The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: LLBean Wildlife Fire Pit Item #: TA242714

My son sustained a minor head injury and laceration to the forehead by an LLBean product. We have the Wildlife Fire Pit from LLBean in our yard. I never realized how easily this product tips when you put weight on the edge of it until my 5 year old son did just this. He was playing in the yard with my husband when my son put his leg on the edge of the fire pit and it flipped on its side with the opposite side hitting my son in the head in the process. This left a 1 inch long laceration on his forehead thus requiring a traumatizing trip to the ER where they recommended stitches and he was evaluated for a concussion. He may further require scar revision on his forehead as this heals. The flaw that I see with this product which makes it so tippy is that it is raised off the ground on three legs, not four. If it were 4 legs, the product would be stable and not so easy to tip. The product number is Item #: TA242714 . We bought our fire pit about 3 years ago, but the model remains the same as sold in stores and online today.
