Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Firepit

We purchased a fire pit from Kmart. The instructions said while the product was in use to cover with the screened cover. Once the fire started the top of the screen and the handle began to turn grey and melt to the base of the handle. After we put the fire out we had a hard time getting the handle away from the base to remove the screen from the base. The product is unsafe and needs to be recalled for safety concerns. My son is a boyscout and the fire was properly built. I have tried to contact the company on several occasions to notify them of this problem but l have not been able to reach them. I have even sent a fax with all the information about the product but to this day I have not heard anything from this company.
