The product, in the report: Fitinhot Chicken Coop Heater model number CHF-2306
I have concerns with Fitinhot Chicken Coop Heater, model number Chf-2306. Purchased on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDL4SP78?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Fire concerns. I bought this coop heater a few months ago to be used on really cold nights in my chicken coop. I never had the chance to use it in my coop, THANK GOD!! We have baby chicks and the room they were in was a bit chilly last night so I plugged it in. About 15 minutes later my son came running saying there was a fire by the babies. My husband and I ran in there and found this brand new heater (just took it out of the box about a week ago)on fire. If I had used it in my coop my entire flock would have been killed before anyone even noticed a fire. Thankfully we caught the fire before it burned my house down or killed my baby chicks. It did however damage my hardwood floor. Thankfully, the fire tripped a breaker...sending my son looking to see what else in my house was effected and ultimately discovering the fire before the smoke detector went off. I find it highly disturbing that when I went to contact Amazon, I noticed the reviews and ratings have gone down since my purchase. The listing I purchased from is now showing unavailable/out of stock with a 3 star rating. However, with a quick search, I was able to locate the same heater, being sold by the same seller available for purchase and has a 4.5 star review. After speaking to Amazon today, I went back to that listing and now its not only available with a 4.5 star rating, but also being offered to me at 20% off. Amazon resolution to this problem was to offer me an exchange for a new one or exchange for 80% of my purchase price, because I’m outside of their return window. ....which to me says, absolutely nothing is going to be done or followed up on. This thing needs to be recalled or something. This could have been catastrophic. Had this been in a chicken coop like it’s intended purpose it would have been catastrophic. I have also attempted to contact the seller, but have not received a response yet. Listing does state that the heater is UL certified
