The product, in the report: delonghi liquid filled portable heater model number 9707

In early April, 2019 my Delonghi portable liquid filled heater model number 9707 exploded with a very large noise in front of me, sending out smoke throughout the room. The heater was too hot to touch and had burned and scorched areas on its bottom. When I contacted Delonghi customer care about the explosion they told me to read the manual if I had problems - they were totally unresponsive.

The product, in the report: Space Heater

The consumer says she went into her son’s room which was colder than usual. Her husband tried to turn on the space heater but it would not turn on. He noticed a blinking light which is not normal. He then noticed the bottom of the heater was melted and the hardwood floor it was sitting on was blackened and scorched.

The consumer is concerned because the rest of her home has carpeting and could have easily started a fire. The consumer contacted the manufacturer who is sending a box for shipment of it to them and offered a replacement unit. the consumer says that the company did not seem too concerned with the safety issue.
