The product, in the report: Duel fuel propane/natural gas unvented heater sold in 3 sizes, 6,000Btu (WDFT060-VF) 10,000btu(WDFT100-VF) and 32,000btu (WDFT320-VF) Its is not known at this time if any of the other units sold under the therma blaster name contain the same pilot design.
As a HVAC Tech I have the job of installing many gas appliances in customers’ homes. I recently installed a Thermablaster heater for a customer. Upon Initial firing I was able to get the main burner to turn on but not ignite. After removing the front cover the locate the issue I determined that these units are being manufactured in a way that essentially bypasses the very system meant to ensure enough flame is present at the burner for proper ignition.
These heaters, manufactured in various sizes and sold both online and through major retailers are designed with 3 pilot systems. During operation on Propane, the pilot on the left is only designed to keep the gas control safety open. This pilot is placed several inches away from the burner and is not capable of properly igniting the main burner. The pilot on the right is enabled during ignition to shoot about a 3-4” flame to hopefully light the standing pilot located above and directly between both left and right pilot systems. It is this center pilot that ignites the main burner. The Issue with this unit is there is no way on ensuring that this center pilot is functioning properly or if it even lit during startup. As long as the pilot on the left is functioning gas can be turned on to the main burner and continue to flow until it locates a source of ignition. No injuries were sustained, but I cautioned this customer and subsequently a second customer to make sure the center pilot Is lit before attempting the use the unit. I have included a copy of page 15 from the WDFT320-VF Manual showing the pilot system in question for your reference.

The product, in the report: Dual Fuel Gas Space Heater (Non Vented)
I purchased and had installed Thermoblaster 32000 BTU Blue flame dual Fuel (Gas) heater in my garage this past weekend and found a issue with the unit that I believe is potentially extremely dangerous! This unit has 2 pilots one that is for natural gas and one for liquid propane. When the unit is started in the proper sequence for Natural Gas both pilots light and should stay on. The problem is when or if the Natural gas pilot goes off for what ever reason the LP gas pilot can stay and does stay lit. This allows the thermocouple to stay latched and in turn allows the main gas valve to open and for the gas to flow out. The problem is the LP pilot flame is smaller and located below the burner outlets as normally LP gas is heavier than air but because the unit is hooked up to natural gas which is lighter than air the gas rises quickly and does not ignite. In my case when the garage reached temperature the unit shut down and the natural gas pilot is going out constantly but the LP pilot stays lit. As stated this keeps the gas valve open and then the whole garage filled with gas to the point where we could smell it outside. I was very lucky that I went out to check on it when I did and that the gas did not build down to the point where the LP pilot could have ignited the gas. If it had I am sure it would have leveled my garage.I did speak to a couple of representatives at Thermoblaster at including the president and they recommended that the LP pilot be capped to prevent this scenario from happening and they even have procedure for doing this. I think this procedure would work but my concern is what if someone does not catch this issue in time. Someone or many could die using this product! I was able to duplicate this issue a few times and have removed the heater and returned it to Lowes. I think it is also very important to mention that there are a couple of other reviews on the Lowes web site that indicate others have had the same or similar issues with this heater. They should be forced to remove the heater from the market until this safety defect is resolved. rous.
