  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 23, 2015, sent to the company Dec 23, 2015, published by CPSC Jan 8, 2016

The product, in the report: gas wall heater Brand name: Cedar Ridge - Pro Com Heating 2800 Griffin Drive Bowling Green, Ky. 42101 1-866-573-0674

Sometime in March 2015 (approximately) while the consumer was using the heater he heard a loud pop and noticed the fire went out but the gas was still emitting. The consumer contacted the firm (866-573-0674) and informed them of the incident. The rep (name unknown) sent the consumer parts (thermal coupling and housing) and the consumer installed them.

The consumer states the heater was not used during the summer and sometime around September 2015 he began to use the heater again. The consumer had a similar incident and contacted the firm. The rep (name unknown) informed the consumer that the problem with the heater could be the regulator and the rep sent the consumer a replacement gas regulator.

On 10/12/15 (approximately) the consumer contacted the firm and explained his situation. The rep (name unknown) advised the consumer to fax the purchase receipt and pictures of the heater. The consumer does not have a digital camera so he did not send a picture of the heater but he did fax the receipt on 10/19/15.

On 10/23/15 the consumer contacted the firm to confirm they received the receipt and the consumer was transferred to [REDACTED], a supervisor [REDACTED]. The supervisor confirmed that the fax was received but the firm would not assist the consumer because the heater is out of warranty.

The consumer believes the heater poses a fire hazard and should be replaced or refund.

When the consumer spoke with [REDACTED], Supervisor, she told the consumer the heater that he bought from Lowes, So. Point, Ohio had been discontinued in 2013. It should not have been on the shelve when the consumer bought it. The next time the consumer spoke with her she told the consumer the gas pressure in WV was to high. The consumer called the gas co. and was told the gas pressure was OK. The consumer spoke with her and told her what the gas company told him. She said the pressure is to low. She told the consumer it was out of warranty and they are not doing anything.

    * The consumer also has a video and sound of the stove. Copy of receipt enclosed.
