The product, in the report: flat panel heater 1000w/1500w settings temperature control 24.6 (w) x 8.5 (d) x 22.5 (h) sits on floor 120v (60 hz)
Several years ago, I purchased a Soleus Air Heater HGW 308, MD 000081509000, S/N 504700100829.
When I attempted to use the unit late in the 2012 heating season, it malfunctioned and failed to heat. I stored the unit without further inspection.
In mid-November 2012, I re-inspected the unit and noticed that on the exterior of the unit (plastic side control panel, lower portion), I noticed that the plastic had discolored and slightly melted outward from the unit. Upon opening the side panel for inspection, I noted that the power cord had become brittle at its connection with the unit’s internal wiring. There were obvious char marks on the wiring at the junction of these wires.
While there was no fire with the failure of the unit, charring of the plastic did occur. I am not in a position to determine if greater damage would have arisen if the wiring had not completely charred.
Pictures were taken and the unit remains in my possession.
