The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Utility Heater

We purchased a Patton Utility Heater model PUH680 1500 watt from Wal-Mart approximately 4 months ago and have only used it 10 to 15 hours. The unit started making a hissing noise and started emitting red and white sparks and with a brighter than normal red and orange glow. Thank goodness my wife was near by and turned the unit off and disconnected it from the power source. Had she not been in the room the unit would surely have caught fire and destroyed our home.
