The product, in the report: LifeSmart HT1109UV infrared electric space heater with three-sided flame-effect viewing panels and built-in UV-LED light. The heater is a freestanding black stove-style unit with four legs and a remote control. Approximate dimensions are 16.06 inches wide 11.81 inches deep 22.80 inches high. It operates at 120V and has two heat settings: 1,000W and 1,500W.
I am reporting a potential electrical/fire hazard involving a LifeSmart HT1109UV infrared heater manufactured/distributed by Supply Chain Sources LLC.
I purchased the heater from Menards in approximately September 2023. During normal household use, while the heater was plugged directly into a wall outlet, I observed sparking at the outlet. After unplugging the heater, I found visible scorching/damage to the wall receptacle. I immediately discontinued use of the heater and have not used it since. I did not observe any visible melting, scorching, or other damage to the heater’s plug itself.
The heater had been plugged directly into the wall outlet and was not being used with an extension cord, power strip, surge protector, or timer.
I subsequently reviewed the owner’s manual. The manual states that if heat, smoke, or signs of melting are detected at the contact point of the wall outlet, the consumer should stop using the heater immediately, contact warranty support, and have the outlet inspected/replaced by a certified electrician.
I reported the incident to Supply Chain Sources/LifeSmart and provided photographs and supporting information. The company confirmed in writing that my report was received, documented, and forwarded through its internal channels for review. The company stated that it did not require the heater to be returned or retained for further review and advised that I could dispose of it. The company declined replacement or other compensation because the heater is outside its one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
No one was injured and there was no structure fire. I am reporting the incident because the sparking and visible scorching of the electrical outlet concerned me as a potential fire and electrical safety hazard.

No incident, no one hurt Made Dec 30, 2025, sent to the company Jan 5, 2026, published by CPSC Jan 20, 2026
The product, in the report: Products name: Lifesmart 240V Digital Garage Heater, 7500W VPN: BGP2102-75R Rural King SKU: 2023001904 Color: White
What happened that made you want to report? I have had several of the Lifesmart 240V Digital Garage Heater, 7500W - VPN: BGP2102-75R from Rural King SKU: 2023001904, this heater is made and sold as several different names/brands in different stores. All of these heaters that I have had, randomly will not shut off the heating element according to the thermostat set point and the heater will run away, continuing to heat the space to well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit if not caught and manually shut off. Causing a serious risk of a structure fire as these are wall/ceiling mounted garage heaters that run away, overheat and do not control as they should by their thermostat.
What type of product(s) were being used? Lifesmart 240V Digital Garage Heater, 7500W - VPN: BGP2102-75R from Rural King SKU: 2023001904
Who was using the product(s)? My wife and I.
How were the product(s) being used? Space heating in a shop, as designed and marketed.
Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? No injuries currently. If these heaters are installed into a garage attached to a home, a fire could result that could be catastrophic.
How did any injuries occur? None currently known.

The product, in the report: LifeSmart “All season heated boot, glove & hat 4-post electric dryer”. Manufacturer name: Lifesmart. The product is black molded plastic and when assembled approximately 8” square at the base with the two tall posts approximately a foot tall. Model BD001-BL UPC 17223 01022
My family received a Lifesmart “All season heated boot, glove & hat 4-post electric dryer” from my parents for Christmas. We have three kids, ages 5, 3, and 8 months. I assembled the dryer for the first time yesterday afternoon and plugged it in to dry my two older kids’ gloves after a walk through the snow. After approximately 10 minutes, I noticed the dryer was on fire, with flames coming upwards from the base. I quickly filled a pitcher with water and put the fire out, and the only permanent damage to our house was a slight smoke stain on the adjacent wall. Still, it could have become a much worse situation if the fire had become more advanced, especially as my children were all napping upstairs.

The product, in the report: It is fireplace heater designed to heat a 1000 square foot room
I bought a LifeSport 1500 KW fireplace heater for a room in my house in November 2014. In February 2015 the heater quit working. I called the company support line on March 2, 2015 and talked with an agent who ran through a predetermined script to see what needed to be done to fix my heater. At the end I was told that I would need to send a copy of the invoice to her and once she received that she would start the process for sending me a new heater - which would include via the mail system a letter on how to dispose of the old heater. On March 9 I got a call from LifeSport saying that they had determined that the thermostat was bad and was going to send me the part. I asked if a technician was going to come out and install and they said no that I would do the work. I told them that I couldn’t believe that the consumer would be the one to have to repair the unit. I got the instructions, ahead of the part coming in the mail, on March 10. The instructions are 7 pages long and the thought of this being a common practice on the consumer repairing a heater sent all kinds of red flags up for me. I told myself that I need to do something because there were many, many people that would not be able to perform this task if their heater had failed for the same reason. I think it is an unsafe act to have a consumer repair a room heater when there are many statistics about room heaters causing issues when professionals put them together. I would like to attach the instructions but I don’t see a way to do that.
