The product, in the report: White portable heater, Holmes HQH308, 14x10x24H for use with unit sitting on floor.

Holmes quartz heater cord was smoking at the plug after being in use for several hours. Immediately turned off the unit and unplugged it. The cord was discolored and plug was hot when disconnected from the receptacle outlet. Closer inspection revealed that the twin 16 AWG “heater-rated” cord was broken where it enters the strain relief at the plug. and one of the conductors was nearly completely separated where the plastic insulation had melted. Nearly got fingers burned by the molten plastic plug and wire.
