Purchased 2 Givebest Heaters on October 9, 2024, from a 3rd party seller on Amazon, because I found them on sale and knew I would need some once it got cold. Received them on October 11, 2024. Did not need them until December, when it got cold. Opened 1 and plugged it in. The fan didn’t come on to circulate the heat when I turned the switch to turn on the fan.... thought it may need to come up to a certain temp before the fan kicked on. Heater continued heating up, but can never came on, no matter where I turned the switch (it has an “Off”, “I”, & “II” for off, low, & high). Picked it up to see if the “Auto Off When Tilt” would cut the heater off, as it was designed to do.... It did not. The heater continued to heat up to what I felt was a dangerous temperature, so I unplugged it & carried it with oven mitts outside to a sandy place in my yard for safety. Once it has cooled off, I brought it back inside, sat it and the one still in its box, on my fire place hearth. I contacted Givebest via information listed on label on heater and in the provided manual. Givebest told me to contact Amazon to return them. Contacted Amazon, who advised me that it was past their 30 day return policy and that I had to contact the seller/manufacturer for return and full refund. Contacted Givebest again, who told me that they were aware of their products having issues, they couldn’t help me because they had no storefront to return to, and they insisted that I had to return the heaters to Amazon for my full refund. In contacting Amazon again, explaining the fire hazards and other dangerous malfunctions with the first heater, that I was not going to chance trying the second. Amazon advised me to destroy and discard both heaters - as they were dangerous, and that they would take up all issues with seller - stating Amazon could not have sellers selling known dangerous products through Amazon. However, Amazon told me - again - to contact seller/manufacturer for my full refund, as my 30 day return window had closed and Amazon couldn’t help me. After being run around by both Amazon and Givebest, I submitted my product review on Amazon - which made the seller/manufacturer contact me, upset over my review. I notified the seller/manufacturer of my intent to contact the [REDACTED] & Consumer Affairs (now I know it’s correctly called Consumer Product Safety Commission). I do not think a company should be selling products that they are aware of having dangerous “issues”, as they stated to me via email. I think these heaters pose a real threat, as with none of the safety features working they are a fire hazard and I really hope someone doesn’t lose their home - or their lives. I have myself (disabled), my adult son (disabled), and our dogs that live in this house, and had I not been leary of plugging in this new heater (as I am with anything that could possibly malfunction and cause damage), I might not have stood right there with it (had it sitting on the bar in the middle of my kitchen on a trivet) and it very may have caught my kitchen on fire - destroying our home, harming or killing us and our beloved pets!
