  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jun 15, 2026, sent to the company Jun 26, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 13, 2026

The product, in the report: Comfort Zone Electric Utility Heater 1500W

What happened that made you want to report? The safety shut off switch stopped working, creating a serious fire hazard if it is knocked over.

What type of product(s) were being used? Comfort Zone Electric Utility Heater Model CZ798BK Manufacture Date 07/22

Who was using the product(s)? Myself

How were the product(s) being used? Just turned on for a few minutes to take the dampness out of the room. I went to pick it up by the handle to reposition it, and that is when I realized that the safety shutoff on the bottom was not working. Previously, if that heater is moved or lifted, the shutoff switch is no longer pressed against the floor, and the heater would immediately shut off.

Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? This could have started a fire!

How did any injuries occur? N/A

I contacted manufacturer, and they wouldn’t do anything since it is out of their 1 year warranty.
