  1. First aid

Made Apr 30, 2024, sent to the company May 2, 2024, published by CPSC May 16, 2024

The product, in the report: RHEEM 3.5 TON GAS & ELECTRIC HVAC. MODEL 13AJN42AO1 13 SEER R410A CUBE A/C. INSIDE HALL CLOSET IS GAS FIRED UNIT. OUTSIDE ON THE GROUND IS THE A/C PART OF THE UNIT

IN APRIL 2015 I BOUGHT A RHEEM 3.5 TON HVAC SPLIT GAS HEAT ELECTRIC AC. MODEL 13AJN42AO1 13SEER R410A CUBE A/C WITH AN EXTRA PAID WARRANTY AND PRE-PAID MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT GOOD UNTIL APRIL 2025. TOTAL PAID IN 2015 WAS $7141.00. BILLED REPEATEDLY FOR COVERED REPAIRS. I IGNORED THOSE BILLS AND PAID FOR NON WARRANTY PARTS. THE UNIT HAS BROKEN DOWN REPEATEDLY IN OUR TUCSON AZ SUMMERS WITH VARIOUS BROKEN PARTS, AND YEARLY LARGE FREON LEAKS. THIS UNIT HAS PROVEN TO BE A “LEMON”. I’VE BEEN SICKENED FROM TOO MUCH HEAT/THE UNIT BLOWS WARM AIR, AND SMELLING THE LEAKING FREON IN MY HALLWAY. MY PERSONAL ELECTRONICS HAVE SUFFERED AND/OR HAD TO BE SHUT OFF MOST OF THE SUMMER MONTHS. COMPUTER, REFRIGERATOR(!) CLOTHES WASHER, ETC. FORCED TO BUY & RUN 4 ELECTRIC FANS INSTEAD, FOOD IN PANTRY (HAS MELTED OR GONE RANCID!). THE UNIT IS A LEMON. THE OWNER REFUSES (!!) TO SPEAK WITH ME ABOUT REPLACEMENT OR RECTIFYING THIS DEADLY SITUATION IN ANY WAY. TODAY? 29 APRIL 2024 I’M WAITING FOR [REDACTED] TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BOARD! I HAVE NO UNIT AT ALL UNTIL THIS LATEST PART IS RECEIVED AND REPLACED. MY TEMPERATURE FOR THIS WEEK WILL BE BETWEEN 90-94 DEGREES. I NEARLY DIED LAST SUMMER WHEN THE FREON LEAKED OUT AND [REDACTED] TOLD ME TO WAIT ANOTHER 4 DAYS FOR “THEIR EARLIEST APPOINTMENT”. I’M MULTIPLE DISABLED (LEGALLY BLIND, USE WHEELCHAIR ETC) AND HAVE ONLY MY DISABILITY INCOME TO PAY. PLEASE HELP ME RECTIFY THIS VERY DEADLY SITUATION.

The product, in the report: Home air conditioning unit

My home air conditioning unit has burnt plastic tray. The tray is underneath the evaporator coil in my attic. The system is poorly designed because it is situated right above the heater coil of my home furnace. The plastic tray is burned, charred, and warped. This is dangerous because the burning plastic probably caused noxious fumes To be circulated throughout house, not to mention fire hazard
