The product, in the report: Air Conditioner Mini split unit
Caller stated that his mini split AC conditioner was installed and a year later it started developing mold on the blades and on the cylindrical fan. He had cleaned the unit which was a difficult task but a few days later the mold appeared again. He has used [REDACTED], mold killer etc. and pulled it apart to ventilate the unit but this did not resolve the issue.
He contacted the manufacturer twice in 2011 and twice in 2012 and he was advised that he should use bleach or some kind of cleaning chemicals to clean the unit. The caller explained to the customer support rep that this would not work. He feels that there is design flaws with the unit closing up the vents after it shuts and keeps the moisture, which might be the cause of mold growing.
The caller is concerned that mold poses a health hazard and feels that this should be reported.
Note: The caller will add more information when the report is received.
