The product, in the report: Window A/C Unit
I purchased a window air conditioning unit from LG in March 2026. I received the product at the end of March which is when the product was also installed. On June 30, 2026 I noticed the unit was beeping continuously. When I went to inspect it, it seemed to continuously power cycle. I disconnected the unit and waited several hours before trying again. It did not work at all this time. On July 1, 2026 the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for my area.I contacted my electrician to make sure my electrical system was not the issue before contacting LG. Once the electrician inspected everything and confirmed my wiring and everything was working fine with our electrical system I contacted LG. I let them know the issue, that we were under a heat advisory until July 4 and that I had a 2 month old baby and a child with autism and asked that they expedite my request because temperatures within my home at that point had rose well above the outdoor temperature of 104 degrees and it was beginning to impose a health hazard on my entire family. They advised me that they were unable to find a technician in my area and had to escalate the issue to their scheduling department. I was frustrated, but did not make too big of a fuss. I waited a few hours to follow up when I was then advised that a response from the scheduling department could take up to 10 days. I then requested they just send me a replacement or refund which they refused. I continuously told them that not having a working air conditioning unit could pose a serious health risk but they did not care. I then contacted the email for the president of the company that is listed on the website and I did not get a response. So I called back again and was advised that they left me a message and would get back to me on July 6th. I told the agent that was unacceptable and the only things she said she could do is email them and ask them to call back earlier but could not make any guarantees. This is a serious health hazard and the fact that this could happen to anyone at anytime and they refuse to make a reasonable effort to ensure the safety of others is so unacceptable .

The product, in the report: LG 8,000 BTU Room Air Conditioner Fits Windows: 22”-36” Wide x 13” High
I used a new air conditioner ONE night, and woke up the next morning with breathing problems. The AC was the only change. I looked into the unit, through the front grille, and saw that the ENTIRE inside air chamber was made of UNSEALED [REDACTED], which is a very soft material. I believe millions of tiny [REDACTED] particles are blowing off next to fan. This is a DANGEROUS product which will fill up bedrooms and people’s lungs with [REDACTED] particles every hour it’s in use.

The product, in the report: LG Stand-up Air Conditioner Model LP1014WNR
The consumer indicates that his air conditioner was on for about ten minutes when he noticed that it was smoking. The consumer immediately unplugged the unit and took it outside; by this time it had already stopped smoking.
Three weeks later the consumer inspected the air conditioner and noticed that the motherboard, several wires, and some fuses were burnt. The consumer tried to fix the unit and although it did hum, the fan or compressor would not turn on.
The consumer states that the unit is used during warmer months roughly three times per week for about two to three hours each use.
The consumer plans on keeping his air conditioner for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: LG window Air Conditioner 8000 BTU
The LG window air conditioner was plugged directly into the wall outlet and being used daily during hot temperatures to cool a mobile home. It had been used in the hot weather for just under 18 months when it suddenly stopped. I unplugged it and attempted to reset the device’s GFI switch on the cord plug. When I unplugged it the cord plug was very hot. I then noticed the outlet was scorched where it was plugged in. I called a friend to come check it and he noticed that the cord plug had burn mark and bubbles between the prongs. Thankfully my niece and I were home when this happened otherwise it could have caused a fire.

The product, in the report: Commercial air-conditioning window unit
Occupant told front desk their A/C unit was sparking out of the vents. The front desk informed the occupants that they would have another room for them and they were sending maintenance up. Maintenance ran into the occupants in the hallway and they informed them the air conditioning unit was now smoking. He went into their room to assist them with switching rooms and noticed ‘a lot of smoke’ coming from the window unit. He called the Chief Engineer as he realized this was more than a minor malfunction and closed the door behind him. He then ran to the electrical panel at the end of the hallway and threw the room’s breaker (it had not tripped). He returned to 510 where he met the chief engineer in the hallway. They opened the door and found the room charged with smoke and could see flames starting to climb the curtains. They closed the door and retrieved an ABC extinguisher from the hallway. They entered the room and extinguished the fire. They state the flames were coming from the vent side of the air conditioning unit. I was the first fire department personnel at scene. Upon my arrival the hotel staff had extinguished the fire. Fire and smoke patterns were consistent with the origin of the fire coming from the vent side of the LG air-conditioning unit (LG LP093HD3A). The delay for the follow-up on this fire was due to an on-the-job injury and subsequent surgery I had. Upon follow-up with the hotel management I learned that they had found in their research that they’ve had 4 to 5 other air-conditioning units with ‘sparking problems’. However, these others had not led to a fire. Before my injury I checked the consumer product recall webpage and was unable to find this LG air-conditioning unit product listed in their recalls. Upon my return to work I contacted LG and was told that this model was made for the [REDACTED] suite and their parent company. Their website does not show this model. When I informed the customer service agent of who I was and why I was calling she referred me to their internal investigator, [REDACTED], who was following up on this incident with the [REDACTED]. I left him a voicemail and a follow-up email to which he is not responded.

The product, in the report: LG LP6011ER low profile air condition
I am reporting an accident with and LG LP6011ER low profile air conditioner. The air conditioner was professionally installed in my window, and was held into place with a metal cross bar and a number of self-tapping screws. On Monday, February 11, 2013 the bulk of the air conditioner fell out of my window down five floors with a big crash. The front of the air conditioner was still securely attached to my window.
It appears that the plastic casing for the part of the air conditioner exposed to the elements suffered some sort of fatigue and just sheared off from the secured part of the air conditioner, causing the “guts” of the air conditioner and the bulk of the casing to fall down.
Luckily, no one was injured.
The air conditioner had been in my window for approximately seven years.
