The product, in the report: Range Hood
We have a Whirlpool range hood, model UXT5230BDS1, serial number XH92594764, that was installed in our new home in mid 2019 by Pulte Corporation. On December 1st I was at the stove cooking when the right hood light exploded sending glass shards in every direction. Fortunately I was not hurt. I reported it to Whirlpool and a case was opened, case # [REDACTED]. Whirlpool has indicated that they would replace the light but nothing has happened. This is a flaw with the type of glass used as the lens. It should be some type of safety glass. Had a shorter person like my wife been there more than likely she would have been seriously hurt. Possible glass in the eye.

The product, in the report: Range Hood for Cooking Range
Whirlpool Range Hood UXT5536AAS for Cooking Range This unit has extremely sharp corner edges --and while cooking --despite all the care -- we bumped into it with injury to the forehead. We were fortunate that we did not get hurt in the eye . Please investigate re this faulty design -- as the sharp edges are at face /eye/head level and impress on the manufacturer to modify existing unit so edges are rounded and pose no physical danger and is safe to use

Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 14, 2012, sent to the company Mar 22, 2012, published by CPSC Apr 5, 2012
The product, in the report: Over the range microwave combination range hood vent.
Grill vent on Whirlpool Microwave Oven Hood Model fell off and hit me in the face. I found that the area where a small plastic attachment clip was fastened had broken off. I purchased a new vent grill (Part # 8205215) on 6/16/2010, from Whirlpool website parts supplier. We decided to put a couple small pieces of electrical tape on the top of the grill, just in case. On 3/11/12, we returned home from an out of town trip and the grill had once again broken off and was being held by the tape, so it did not fall on the glass cooktop. The break was once again where the clip was attached to a very thin section on the back of the grill. This time when I went to the website for a new grill, this part was no longer listed. I began to search for other parts websites and found many, many other customers who have had the same problem. This is a safety issue,as the grill could fall on a young child or break a glass cooktop. I have notified Whirlpool of the issue and am awaiting a reply. I would be happy to send you the broken part.
