The product, in the report: From the product listing: Westinghouse 18” Digital Pedestal Stand Fan with Remote Control, Floor Fan It is a black pedestal fan.
The product: Westinghouse 18” Digital Pedestal Stand Fan with Remote Control, Floor Fan
Purchased from Walmart.
I have owned a fan for less than 6 weeks. I only used it for a few hours each day. I assembled and used it according to instructions. Last night the blade came apart, basically exploded and shattered small sharp bits of plastic all around the room.
The fan was not exactly cheap to buy, but the blade felt incredibly cheap as I was assembling it. There was absolutely a risk of someone being injured from the shards of sharp plastic that went flying, as well as from the ones that remained scattered on the floor. The cage of the fan successfully caught most of the bigger shards, but if it had broken in a different pattern and while the fan was at a different angle in its oscillation, the plastic could have absolutely caused a severe injury

The product, in the report: Westinghouse Ceiling Fan Model 72043 UPC PO#017501 a outdoor ceiling fan with a wrought iron case around the light
Last year in June 2020, we installed this Westinghouse ceiling fan (. Within a couple months (around October), the fan blade broke off and flew through the lanai area just missing the head of one of our guests. It was very scary! We immediately called Westinghouse and they said they were aware of the problem and they would send us out a new blade kit. We received the new blades and fixed the fan. We barely used the fan during the winter months. Now its July 2021, and we have had the exact same thing happen, again! The “safer replacement “ blades flew off, almost hitting my 11 year old granddaughter and just missing a 24 foot sliding glass door. Another blade is cracked in the same place so its also ready to fly off. This entire fan is deflective and extremely dangerous. The replacement kit is bogus! Its the same defective material. I wonder how many buyers have had this happen twice! If we had a small area, we definitely would have had serious injury. Do not let them send out the new safer blades anymore. They are NOT safer. They are the same dangerous blades.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse Great Falls outdoor ceiling fans, 52” oil rubbed bronze with replacement blades (oct 2020)
Last year (July 2020) I purchased the Westinghouse Great Falls ceiling fan, which was then subject to a recall/safety notice for unsafe fan blades that could break off during fan operation. In October of 2020 I received replacement fan blades from Westinghouse and promptly replaced the old defective ones. The fan worked fine for several months, then in July of 2021, while the fan was operating, one of the replacement blades broke off and was thrown across the room, fortunately the room was unoccupied at the time.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse Great Falls indoor/outdoor ceiling fan with light.
The fan blades for this product were replaced previously due to the recall in the fall of 2020. We changed out the blades the first week of May 2012, today a blade broke off, jagged, landing inches from my head, fortunately while in the off position. Since this is the second failure in design I am uncomfortable with yet a third set of blades. Please advise of any options that we may have. These two fans were originally installed July of 2020, it’s disappointing to have had less than a year without multiple issues.

The product, in the report: This is a Westinghouse model 7204300 outdoor rated ceiling fan, antique bronze finish ish, 52 inch ceiling fan.
Last year I purchased this exact fan from Amazon. About a month after receiving it and having it installed, I received a recall notice on the defective blades. One had already broken prior to receiving the recall notice. I followed the request sending model number information and was promptly sent replacement blades. Tonight, 6-9-21, one of the replacement blades again broke and luckily didn’t hit either my wife or myself or anything else on the porch.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse ETL-ES-Comet-WH20 52” Ceiling Fan. Product #7230100. Color: Espresso
Blades of ceiling fan crack and separate from their mount.
I have 2 identical ceiling fans purchased and installed at the same time: Westinghouse ETL-ES-Comet-WH20 52”, Product # 7230100. Purchased and installed Nov 2020. Last night, I stopped the fan after it began making a noise and wobbling. Once stopped a blade separated and fell to the ground. I inspected both fans and found that 7 of 9 remaining blades across the two fans are visibly cracked and at risk of separating in the same manner. I have also contacted the manufacturer about the issue.
The fans were professionally installed and have been operating under normal conditions. The one with the failed blade had been turned on via wall switch. Thankfully no one has been injured. The units are not known to have been damaged in any way prior to this event.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse 52” fan, Great Falls
Purchased (2) Westinghouse 52” great falls fans for our porch in sept 2020 from Amazon for $170/piece. Within 3 weeks, 4 of the 8 blades had broken at the base (around the drilled holes). Two of them were thrown approximately 10’ while the fan was operating. Ordered another matching fan in order to use the blades, as Westinghouse didn’t sell any matching replacement blades. This was toward the end of the patio/deck season, and went into winter. A month ago, I noticed that 3 mores of the blades have broken and are about to fall off the fan. Have spent over $300 and the fans are already unable to use.

A Westinghouse brand ceiling fan had been installed for several weeks, but NEVER was yet turned on. (I was awaiting an electtriician to check the house wiring). One of the blades suddenly snapped in two and a large piece of this blade fell to the couch underneath it. This is from an 11 foot ceiling. I want to emphasize that the fan was NOT spinning.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse Great Falls Ceiling Fan ETL-ES-GreatFalls-WH19 (outdoor rated).
I purchased the Westinghouse Great Falls outdoor ceiling fan from Amazon in late May, installed it scrupulously according to the directions and used it for a month. On Saturday, while my children were nearby, a blade broke near the base and came flying off, landing near them. Upon inspection, two other of the plastic blades are cracked, and the fourth is showing signs of stress. I have contacted Amazon, left a review, and have a call into Westinghouse to warn them. The blades seem brittle vs. strong/resilient upon inspection.

The product, in the report: 52” Ceiling Fan with Light Kit - Westinghouse Contempra X Model: 78593
Ceiling fan blade bracket separated resulting in a blade falling off the fan. This failure occurred while the fan was off. The fan blade fell straight down impacting furniture, but not resulting in injuries. Inspection of the failed metal blade bracket shows extensive porosity in the casting. This porosity resulted in a weak bracket allowing the failure. This is a manufacturing defect.

Purchashed two westinghouse lighting 7876400 alloy two-light 42 inch reversible three blade indoor ceiling fans, gun metal with opal frosted glass. Ordered about the 24th of Oct. 2011 and recieved them about the 16th of Nov. 2011. I installed them and did not have a problem the first 3 weeks then early in the a.m. turned on the light and there was a pop and sparks and a small fire inside the lamp portion. Took off the globe and saw the light socket and the wires were burnt on one of the bulb sockets. I bought a replacement socket and installed It, there was plenty of wire to do this. The light worked fine for about 4 days then the other light socket did the same thing and burnt some of the cardboard that was between the bulb and the metal. I had my contractor at the house the next day doing some work and showed him the first socket and then the second one and he said he would not use the fan any more. So I contacted the dealer that I purchased the fans from thur Amazon. He gave me the number to Westinghouse and I called them twice and both times they gave me the brush off by telling me there supervisor was busy and they would call me back, which they never did. I contacted the dealer again and told him my problem with westinghouse and he refunded my money and said he would try and deal with them. But told me under no condition I was to use the fans again.
