The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: https://theairhood.com/
I was a product called The Airhood. It’s essentially a fan designed to pull smoke/oils from cooking. It is meant to sit on a counter top to pull the smoke through its filters. The FAQ says it can be used for outdoor grills so I used it for my grill under a lanai. The product page doesn’t say how far away from cooking surfaces it should be. I knew I wanted it close but not too close. So I had the product about 6 inches from the grill.
I walked inside for a moment and found the fan was against the grill. Turns out it developed a vibrating type of movement where it pushed itself against the grill. After I finished cooking I couldn’t replicate this behavior. So I tried it on the stove and sure enough, the fan vibrated to the stove.
It seems to develop this issue near cooking surfaces when cooking temperature rises, which runs counter to the product’s desired outcome. With no instructions or warnings, if this is even a normal behavior, I can see how this can be a significant fire hazard.
I have a video of this behavior I’d be happy to share.
