The product, in the report: Outdoor ceiling fan
I am reporting a craftmade outdoor ceiling fan, model DCRT70AG. Over the past three years I have found the fan blades laying on the patio and have replaced approximately 7 blade arms that are made out of cast iron. I thought a squirell or other small animal was jumping on the fan breaking the arms. However, I was outside yesterday with a fairly large group of people. A wind gust came upp, around 20 to 25mph and one of the fan arm blades broke and the fab blade flew through the group. No one was hurt this time but if it hit someone it could cause serious injury.
This fan is made for outdoor use and it has become clear the arm blades are not strong enough to support the fan blades during a guest of wind. Now that I am positive what is causing the blades to break, I believe it is a serious design flaw and if not corrected will lead to a serious injuy.
