No one hurt Made Jul 10, 2020, sent to the company Aug 25, 2020, published by CPSC Sep 9, 2020
The product, in the report: Window Fan
I use the Comfort Zone Dual Window Fan (that is placed at my window and that I purchased a while ago) only on occasion, so I was very surprised when I turned it on for the first time in a while and BOTH fan blades immediately splintered and shattered into tiny plastic bits when the fan spun up, sending shards of the fan blades flying. Clearly, the motors are still working, but the plastic has become brittle. On closer inspection, even the plastic on the window side (sun side of the window) near the handle has become brittle and is cracking. This is especially bad and frustrating because this fan is listed as a WINDOW fan - and that is where it was placed - at the window! This was advertised and marked as a WINDOW fan, and so was placed at a window. What is even more distressing is the fact that the smaller splinters and shards of the brittle plastic fan blade flew out of the fan and could have seriously injured my family. I emailed Comfort Zone, hoping they would take this issue seriously, send a proper replacement, but they do not see this as a SAFETY issue to be addressed. Attached, please find images:

Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 20, 2015, sent to the company Sep 28, 2015, published by CPSC Oct 13, 2015
The product, in the report: Electric Fan on “pedestal”
When the approximately three year old fan was turned on there was a large blue flash and a shock was felt. This is a “pedestal” fan and the outlet is several feet above the floor, so the cord has never been on the floor.
