The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

The product, in the report: Casablanca 84” Malibu Star Ceiling Fan

We have a Casablanca 84” Malibu Star ceiling fan in our home. The fan was already installed in our home when we moved in in 2007. The home was built in 2001. On Monday, Sept 2, 2013, my husband and 2 young children were sitting in the living room under the fan when it suddenly fell from the ceiling that is 2 stories high, striking my 3 year old son in the head. We took him immediately to the Urgent Care and then to follow up with his pediatrician. He suffered a head contusion and abrasions on the hand and head. I wanted to report this issue as it could have had a much worse outcome. This ceiling fan could have caused serious injury or death.
