The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Aug 28, 2013, sent to the company Sep 6, 2013, published by CPSC Sep 20, 2013

The product, in the report: KOHLER Swiftflo 1-1/2 in. Adjustable Trip Lever Drain in Polished Chrome Model # K-11660-CP Internet # 100098339

This is in reference to the following item sold at Home Depot; KOHLER Swiftflo 1-1/2 in. Adjustable Trip Lever Drain in Polished Chrome Model # K-11660-CP, Internet # 100098339

The threads for the couplings are razor sharp and will easily cut fingers or your hand if you try to tighten the fittings by hand. I installed this drain kit and sliced two fingers on the threads. It was not serious but did bleed and required cleaning, antiseptic and bandages.

I subsequently did install this product using gloves and pliers so I did not have to use bare hands. If someone was not careful or not aware of the danger, they could seriously cut themselves when attempting to install this product.

I have worked on plumbing for 40 years and have never cut myself on any plumbing fixture, pipe or coupling before.

I contacted the manufacturer, Kohler and they did not seem interested in either my injury or the potential dangers of their product. I attempted to repeatedly write a review on Home Depot’s website warning others of the dangers of this product and my reviews were rejected.
