The product, in the report: Heating and Air Conditioning Unit
Caller stated that his heating and air conditioning unit started sparking and smoking when he change the temperature to heat for a few seconds. He immediately powered it off. He was unaware that the unit was affected by a recall Alert #08-530, he was never notified. However, when he contacted the firm, he was referred to their website but there is no information on the website how to obtain the recall remedy.
The caller feels that the manufacturer should have made it easier for consumers to contact them to receive the remedy. He feels that this is a fire hazard and should be dealt with more urgency.
