  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: Heat shield shield for Lennox hvac furnace model # EL180UH100NE60C

My Lennox Hvac Furnance Model #EL180UH100NE60C Serial# 5921H0544 that I had installed on Dec 30, 2021, stopped working so I had no heat. I called a couple places to fix it and they said it was the heat shield. They also told me it was on recall but it wasn’t offical so I would have to pay for the labor of $350 but the part was under warranty. He said some environmental agency told Lennox and other Hvac companies in the [REDACTED] County areas of California had to start using a new metal in their heat shields. This heat shield started warping and could cause a fire hazard as the metal wasn’t strong enough to with stand the heat. So now they are going back to the old part which works alot better. How do I make this an offical recall so I can get my labor charge refunded to me? Thanks [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Lennox Heating and AC system. I have 2 units 3 ton and 5 ton. Models 14ACX-036-230A20 & CH33-25A-2F-3 Serial 1916F29649 & 6016F01278 Lennar homes is the builder and [REDACTED] the HVAC who purchased and installed the units.

Lennox Heating and Air Conditioning had a class action lawsuit settled against them in 2015 for selling defective Heating/AC units. The coils leak. Even after the lawsuit, they sold defective heating and AC units for a new build called [REDACTED]. I am the second owner of this home which broke ground in 2016. I purchased the home June 2020. The inspection showed excessive oil up in the attic in the condensation pans of the 2 units. The original owners had it checked out and sent paperwork that their HVAC stated it was ok. My HVAC the next year, was concerned with the amount of oil and had to top off the refrigerant. He stated it wasn’t a lot. That was 2021. Moving ahead to Nov. and Dec 2024. I had it looked at to prepare for summer 2025. [REDACTED] (whom I used before) stated my coils are leaking. I had a second opinion by [REDACTED] and they stated they are leaking. I contacted [REDACTED] and they said that there is way too much oil up there to not have a leak. They did a line test to see what exactly was leaking. They stated that the coils are leaking not the lines. I contacted Lennox requesting the coils since I have proof that the coils were leaking at inspection. Now the leaking is worse and noticeable than before. Lennox states I’m out of warranty and they will not provide the coils. I live in the [REDACTED] area and it is getting warmer here. They knowingly sold defective units. They never replaced the coils knowing they would leak. Accountability is necessary. I am in contact with the lead lawyer on the 2015 case to see if they could help. I have not heard a response. I went door to door leaving letters and speaking to neighbors. There are 52 homes here. Many of my neighbors have had the same issue. They either have replaced their whole heating/AC system or did the coil fix. This is very dangerous in climates with extreme cold or heat. Lennox is refusing accountability. All of us deserve compensation and justice. This is dangerous in areas like AZ with excessive heat temperatures.

The product, in the report: Lennox Heat Pump Package Unit Model 13HPP42AP-3A serial number 1614K06686.

I purchased a package heat pump unit Model 13HPP42AP-3A on 11/11/14 unit serial number 1614K06686. Unit has been serviced regularly. On 2/3/23, unit air handler fan would not shut off and system would not run in automatic or on emergency mode. Eventually I was able to get the system to run in emergency but air handler would not shut off. Contacted the installing dealer and the unit was repaired on 2/4/23. The control wires for the unit were wired tightly over an exposed metal edge with no stand offs or grommets to prevent wire wear. Vibration off the unit during operation damaged the insulation on the wires causing a short circuit that resulted in an energized cabinet as well as failure of the 40 VA Universal Transformer and Double Pole Breaker. This is very obviously either a manufacturing problem or a serious design flaw. This could have resulted in a house fire or an injury to someone.

The product, in the report: Heating and Air Conditioning System

06/19/2016 (Approximate) - The consumer indicates that her heating and air conditioning system started leaking. The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and they arranged for a Service Technician to inspect her unit.

06/23/2015 - A Service Technician replaced a coil on the heating and air conditioning system.

09/14/2015 - The heating and air conditioning system shut down completely. The Service Technician informed the consumer that the unit had mold. The Service Technician suggested an ultraviolet light be installed at the consumer’s expense; the consumer paid to have said light installed.

09/27/2016 - The motor of the heating and air conditioning system was replaced.

10/04/2016 - A Service Technician is scheduled to replace the coil as the one that was replaced is no longer working.

The heating and air conditioning system is not working properly at the moment. The consumer states that the unit is still under warranty but it excludes labor. The consumer plans on keeping this unit for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
